Create Your first HTML Document

Are you ready?
Here are the steps for creating your first HTML file.

Open your Text Editor
here are the steps for opening your text editor:
  • click strart
  • Point to program under accessories click Notepad
    The new windows appears

  • Go to the text editor window.
  • Enter the following text
         <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0//EN">
         <html>
         <head>
         <title>big bang</title>
         </head>
         <!--  hayayoo education
         This course was written for hayayoo education
         by omar elbadii.      -->
         <body>
         In our tutorial we will develop a pages about
     how the Big Bang theory of creation relates to modern religion.
     Then we will use Internet to research information on the subject
     and Discuss recent scientific research. 
    
         
       
         </body>
         </html>
    

    Save the document as a file called "univers.html" and keep it in the "My page" folder you set up for this tutorial.
    When you save your document you must save all of your HTML files with names that end in .HTM OR .HTML


  • Check Your Work

    Open New Web Browser window
    here are the steps for opening folder:
  • From the File menu of your web browser, select New Window
  • Select Open File... from the File menu.
  • Use the dialog box (Browse..) to find and open the file you created "univers" ,in your folder (Mypage)
  • You should now see in the title bar of the Internet Explore window the text "big bang" and in the web page below, the sentence of text you wrote,

    Compare your document with a sample of how this document should appear. After viewing the sample, use the back button on your web browser to return to this page.

    • On the view menu in Internet Explorer, click source.
      Creating a shortcut
    • A shortcut is a quick way to start a program or open a file or folder without having to go to its permanent location in Windows Explorer. Shortcuts are especially useful for programs, files, and folders you use frequently.
