What is your pen name?
My penname is DQBunny.
When is your birthday?
My birthday is February 28, 1980.
When did you start writing?
I began writing SM fics in January 2000.
[Lyna:] January 2000? How interesting, I always thought that you were an older writer...
Nope! I first saw the Japanese version of SM in the fall of 1999.
Is this how you became addicted to Sailor Moon?
I saw the SMR and SuperS movies subtitled in November then accidentially stumbled onto the S, SuperS, Stars, and missing episodes a month later. In the same month, I started reading the manga and fell in love with it. It's excellent.
So the ultimate question: manga or anime and why?
Manga. The manga storyline is much tighter than the anime and presents the characters to be more mature, especially Usagi and Minako. Chibi-Usa as well. The manga actually has Mamoru play an active role during the entire series, which is unlike the anime. However, I do prefer the anime version of S over the mangas. I will never forget the first time I saw the episodes where Uranus and Neptune discovered they had talismen.
Who is your favorite character?
Really, it's a tie between Usagi, Chibi-Usa, and Minako. My friends call me the wandering spirit of Usagi because I am a klutz ;-)
I would like to talk about a topic that has peeked my curiosity since the beginning of the interview *smiles* Senshi in College is probably your most popular work, how did you start? I mean, what inspired you on writing such a wonderful story?
There's another fanfic set in college called "Daigakusei no Ranma" which is the story of the Ranma 1/2 characters after they go to college. I adapted that to the SM world and it's my way of bridging the inconsistencies between the manga and the anime. Originally it was suppose to be four "seasons" each with roughly 22 episodes. I want to eventually complete the first series, but I have an idea I want to do with Setsuna that can carry a second one.
Does this mean that we can expect Senshi in College to go on for many more chapters?
As soon as I can get my act together, hopefully. I'm graduating college in May and unfortunately, my grades have to come first.
And to go back to more general questions, who is your favorite writer?
It's hard for me to pick just one. A lot of people are good, and I hate to play favorites because a lot of people put their hearts and souls into their work.
Which one is your favorite work (of all the stories that you wrote)?
Between the Darkness and the Light is my favorite.
How did you choose your penname?
I wanted something different from everyone else. At the time, one of my favorite shows was Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman. That's where the DQ came from. Bunny is the English translation of "Usagi".
Do you have a special way to find plot ideas?
A lot of them are "What if?" questions. They come from holes in the plot, like "The Right Decision".
