    Introduction to the BOOKS conference

If you'd like to discuss books and literature, or the arts generally, or anything on my literary pages, a good way of doing it is through our BOOKS discussion conference. You can join it either by calling a BBS linked to the FamilyNet network, or by subscribing to an e-mail mailing list called family.books.

It is for discussing books, literature and the arts generally.

    Subscribing by mailing list

Click to join or leave the mailing list
    Subscribe Unsubscribe

This should open your mailer with the appropriate message, which you should simply send. If it doesn't work, send an e-mail message to Bob Hoffman with one line in the body of the message:

    subscribe family.books

That's easy enough - come and join us!

    Joining through a BBS network

The BOOKS conference is carried on the FamilyNet BBS network, and if you have easy access to a FamilyNet BBS, it could be an easier and more efficient way of participating.

And advantage of BBS participation is that messages from conferences on different topics don't all end up in your inbound mail box, so that you find it hard to differentiate between different messages on different topics. You can download messages without having to decide right away what to do about them.

You can try out the BBS right now from your Web browser. If you click on:

    http://www.family-bbs.net/

you will be taken to the BBS log-in screen. If it is your first call, register as a new user. Then click on "Join conferences" and wait for the list to load (it's long). Scroll down until you find the FAMILY BOOKS conference, and mark it (and any others that interest you), and then scroll to the end and click on the join button. You should then see a list of the conferences you have joined. Click on any of them to read, reply and post new mesages.

If you don't know what a BBS is, and would like to know more - have a look at our BBS page. There are some web pages linked to particular BBSs, in case you would like to try them.

    Conferences on other topics

A lot of the literary essays at this Geocities address are also related to Christian theology, and there are some Christian theology conferences you could also join.
