	1- THE REASONS THIS BOOK WAS WRITTEN :
	Dr. Alberto Hazan and his wife Gizel Ender Hazan have prepared this book as a present to the Izmir Jewish community on the behalf of their son`s Bar-mitsvah and their daughter`s Bat-mitsvah. They wanted to show to all of the HAZAN family all over the world and to Izmir Jewish community how Aaron de Yoseph HAZAN had worked for the Jewish community of Izmir and how their ancestors were brilliant, respectable, well educated people.

	2- JEWS IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE :
	A summary of the Ottoman Empire Jews in the history.

	3- THE RELIGIOUS LEGISLATION IN THE OTTOMAN EMPIRE :
	In the Ottoman Empire the legislation was based on RELIGION.
	The muslims were controlled by Sheyhülislam, müftü and sheriat rules, fetva.
	The jews were ruled by the Halacha commendments and the chief rabbis. The chief rabbi was “THE ONLY AUTHORITY” to give a punishment to a Jew.
	This section was especially included to show how powerful was the HAZAN chief rabbis in the history.

	4- GREAT RELIGION MEN “THE HAZANS” :
	In this chapter 13 great-grand fathers of the Hazan family, most of them rabbinical scholars and born in Izmir are written with the family flow-chart.
	Each Hazan has written many books, mostly about Halacha as responsa literature. The person names and the book names are all based on Encyclopedia Judaica, Jewish Encyclopedia and the books of Avraham Galanté, the famous historian.

	5- IZMIR`S JEWISH HISTORY :
	A summary of Izmir`s Jewish history especially from the point of view of the society`s synagogues, schools and welfare groups.

	6-GREAT LEADER - AARON DE YOSEPH HAZAN :
	The translation of a book written by all the Jewish Societies in Izmir after his death. The “HODJA HAZAN - THE TEACHER HAZAN” had:
	-Founded the first Jewish Journal in order to educate the whole jewish population and continued the publication for 41 years without any interval with his own perseverance.
	- Taught “TURKISH” for 40 years to every child at school as the “FIRST TURKISH TEACHER” IN THE JEWISH SCHOOL OF Izmir.
	-Founded the Welfare group “Ozer Dalim” and was its leader for 50 years.
	-Founded the first “GIRLS SCHOOL” in Izmir`s Jewish social life.
	-Founded the first “Artisan and Agriculture school”.
	-Performed several theaters also written by him.
	-Founded “LIGA DE PAS” - “The Peace and Solidarity Society”.
	-Founded “THE KARATASH JEWISH HOSPITAL”.
	-Completed the construction of “BETH-ISRAEL SYNAGOGUE” the biggest synagogue where the ceremonies of the weddings are done today.

	7- THE JEWS IN IZMIR IN THE YEAR 2000 :
	The present situations of all the societies Aaron de Yoseph HAZAN had founded are explained in this chapter. It is mentioned that the biggest problem is the Jewish school which has been just closed and the young generation going out of Izmir or making a mix-marriage.

	8- SOME ADVICES TO THE NEW GENERATION :
	The family Hazan who have prepared this book is explained shortly and 2 letters are written from the parents to their children and to every child in this world.
