| Hello. I have been following with interest the reports which you have been discussing on Virtuallystrange.net regarding the sightings in British Columbia. I have also read similar reports on the National UFO Reporting Center in Seattle. I have decided to write to you after reading your March 27 report and the mention of aircraft patrolling the area. You may be interested in learning that I have also been observing a variety of bright nocturnal lights on a regular basis since February 2, 2002 and have also observed aircraft patrolling the skies in our area since February 4. There appear to be a number of similarities between what is occurring in British Columbia, and what I have been observing in Spokane. Just to help you evaluate what I am saying, I want to give you a little bit of my background. (All personal information is deleted by HBCC UFO to protect the witnesses identity). By discussing what I have been observing, I have little to gain, and perhaps a lot to lose. I live on (deleted by HBCC UFO) about 15 miles SW of the city of Spokane, at the edge of wheat country known as the Palouse. I have an extensive view - I can see about 45 miles to the South and about 30 miles to the West. When the "lights" began appearing I contacted local law enforcement, the local civilian and military airfields, the local newspaper, the state chapter president for MUFON who resides in Spokane and the NUFORC in Seattle. No one knew anything. Since that time, I have observed "lights" in the night sky an average of 3 to 4 nights per week. Beginning about Feb. 7 I started taking photographs with an "instamatic" type camera, and as of about Feb. 15 began shooting through a 200X Meade telescope and a 35 mm Canon AE-1. I have quite a few pictures, most of which are simply blobs of light. However in some, shot at shorter shutter speeds, the lights take on a discernable "saucer"shape. I won't go into more detail now, but would if you are interested in hearing more. But there are two things I want to tell you. On the evening of Feb 4 I observed a large "sparkling" light hanging over the Palouse. I then noticed a large jet aircraft fly from the East, over my house, and then fly a circular pattern under the light, and then fly back toward the East where it had come from. I remember thinking "those pilots must have seen that light!" Since that time, I have observed a variety of jet aircraft, including the original, patrolling the skies on a nightly basis. I know they are patrolling because I can see them flying patterns for hours - without heading toward the airports. At first I thought the lights might be some type of military test and the planes were watching or otherwise involved in the test. However - I have observed the planes patrolling for entire evenings when the lights do not appear. Second, I witnessed a startling event about Feb 5 or 6. The evening had been quite stormy and rainy, with strong gusts of wind. But at about 9:30 PM the wind and rain let up, and within minutes a large light "popped up" over the Palouse. Then, within a minute, I observed a lighted jet aircraft "dive" out of the clouds above the light and fly directly at it. The light began a rather rapid movement to the North, with the aircraft following it ! It was my impression the plane was waiting and "pounced" on the light when it appeared. I honestly don't know what to make of all this, but wanted to write you because of some similarities between what is happening in your area and down here in Spokane Let me know if you would like to discuss this further. Its good to make contact with someone who understands the significance of what is going on (whatever that is !?). I'll try to keep this message brief as I understand that you must have a hundred and one things going on right now. First, feel free to include anything that I tell you in your reports, or on your web site, if you think it is significant, as long as you keep my identity confidential. I feel that in the Spokane area, there is a strong effort to keep a lid on all of this. But I think that more people would be willing to come forward with what they know if they learn that others are discussing the same things. Second, I have experienced so much, and have observed so many weird things in the last month and a half, that I honestly don't know where to begin. So I invite you to ask questions about anything that may be helpful. Investigator's Note: (Whole section has been deleted by myself - HBCC UFO as the witness wants to wait to hear about some items he has asked about) Once this information comes in, then I will see what this witness wants to do about it. Brian, I had to stop because as I was typing, I just saw a light "pop up" over the Palouse. (Its now 8:45 PM) I estimate it was about 10 miles away. It is primarily a bright fluorescent crème color, but it kind of shimmers blues and greens and reds. I observed the light for about 3 minutes before it moved in what I have come to believe is a very deliberate track or pattern which is repeated in almost all "sightings". What is very odd is that these lights nearly always disappear from my view behind the same tree. I see the lights travel behind the tree, but hardly ever see them come out on the other side - and I CAN see into the distance on both sides of the tree. So it appears to me that the lights are disappearing in the same area ??? I took some photos of this light through my telescope, but based on past experience, the photos will not do justice to what I can see with my naked eye. And oh yes, before I forget - I also saw an airplane flying from the South toward the light at a fairly fast rate of speed. However the light "disappeared" when the plane was still about 5 miles away. This is really weird ! Sometimes when I am telling my friends what I am seeing, the words even sound crazy to me as they are coming out of my mouth. Anyway Brian, I hope you stay safe.
