SERIES 4 (1996)

Steve has been missing for two days without a trace. Allie and the others get worried.Deloraine receives a phone call from the police. They have a distressing message concerning Steve.He goes to the class and tells Allie that Steve has fallen off a cliff and died.Everybody is in a state of shock especially Allie and Dani.They go to the place where he died and cannot believe it.
Rest in peace,Steve!

Con has pangs of conscience because he thinks that he must mourn Steveīs death much more than he can right now.Despite his death he is still able to work secretively on his own music magazine instead of editing his classmatesīarticles about Steve for the school newspaper.He even copies from other music magazines.

The fuzz question Allie and Dani.They ask them in what kind of mood Steve was before he died.Allie replies that he was alright whereas Dani says that he was in a bad mood.So the police assume that he might have committed suicide.But Allie supposes that he fell off the cliff while he was taking photos.But his camera, which would prove that,is missing.
Matt wants to move into Steveīs room but Allie is not sure about it.Finally he does move in.But Dani is mad at her because she thinks that itīs too early for Matt to move into Steveīs room.

Kat comes across Conīs magazine and gets very angry.She canīt understand how he only thinks of his career and not of Steve.In order to teach him a lesson she fakes a fax .It says that POWER RECORDS want to sue him for copying from them.Kat talks to him and admits that she has written the fax.He still reproaches himself for not mourning but Kat explains to him that he is in a state of shock and thatīs why he cannot mourn.

Dani has found Steveīs missing camera on the cliff.Con processes its film.There is one photo which Steve has shot right at the moment when he fell off the cliff.Allie,Bolton,Matt,Con,Kat and Dani gather at the cliff and each one of them says a few words about Steve to say goodbye.Dani reads a poem Steve has written her to them.Finally they all form a circle and embrace each other.

Dani is in high spirits and tells Allie that she has overcome Steveīs death.Allie cannot understand her behaviour.How come Dani feels so much better from one day to the other?One moment she seems boisterous and all of a sudden she becomes dejected without any apparent clue!

Athol Pike is an old,fuddy-duddy teacher who loves to bet on horses.Matt thinks that he is unable to prepare them for the final exam, which is sad but true.The class decide to talk to Deloraine about Pike.After an argument with Deloraine, Matt eventually convinces his uncle that Pike is no longer capable of teaching.Pike is very disappointed and hands in his notice.He realizes that he cannot keep up anymore.

Bolton "repairs" the car and paints the door violet but the car is black!Now the repair will cost 1100$!Simultaneously Dani borrows a lot of money from Bolton several times but he doesnīt ask her what she does with it.In the lessons she is apathetic.She looks peaky and is also pretty irritable and argues with Matt.Allie assumes that she is addicted to drugs.

In order to pay the bill Kat and Bolton stake their money on horses with Pikeīs help.The first time they win, the second time they would have won,if Bolton had bet in time.Katerina thanks Pike for his tips and it cheers him up a little bit.But Kat is still broke and canīt pay the bill. Finally Roberto finds out about the accident and he pays it.Because of that Kat has to work off her debts with a lot of housework.

Dani goes to the beach and meets there somebody.She gives him money and he gives her pills.

Dyson quizes Dani about her low marks and recomends to her that she gets profesional help but really all she is worried about is that she can't afford to pay her dealer. Then she leaves her locker open and Miss Brooks finds the drug Speed and confronts Dani about it. Dani denies everything and so Miss Brooks reports to Dyson who calls Dani and her mother to the school wherebye Dani confesses and Dyson expells her.

Matt and Allie visit Deloraine and ask him to speak to Dyson to make her change her mind but he says he can't do anything it's not his school anymore. Meanwhile Bolton tries to make Dani shop the dealer to the police.

While all this is going on there is some comedy when Kat accidentally dyes her hair green and turns up wearing a hat to try to hide it. Miss Brooks eventually gives Katerina some black hair dye and when Kat says does it work she responds "well it did for me I was originaly blonde!"

Dani meanwhile goes to a psychologist and the police and Miss Brooks tells Dyson what she has done and asks her to give her one more chance as she is such a good student and this was her one and only mistake. Dyson also gets advice from Deloraine and this finally swings the vote and she allows Dani back to school.

Dani visits Deloraine in hospital to thank him and at the end of the episode she moves into the warehouse and is a happy bunny!

Allie wants to put Dani in touch with somebody as she is lonely. Matt recommends his cousin. Dani doesn't want to meet somebody but the others persuade her to do it. She goes to the Shark Pool on a date but confuses the wrong person with Matt's cousin and this puts her off the idea.

Con wants to get into showbusiness and looks for a partner for the Shark Pool. Katerina recomends her old friend Antonio and Con likes him so they become partners. Once there though he begins to take over ordering new games and video machines and trying to seduce Katerina

Kat goes out with him for a laugh and realises that he's taking all the profits from the new machines for himself. Con is ballistic with Kat for going out with Antonio and breaks off their relationship but once Katerina explains what has been going on at the Shark Pool he fires Antonio and makes up with Kat.

Meanwhile Bolton gets caught doing wrong once again by Dyson and as punishment gets banned from going on the trip to the Atomic Research Institute, so the whole class goes on strike insisting that as it was Boltons idea in the first place he should be allowed to go. Miss Dyson refuses and keeps them all in the class as punishment. Bolton realises he has done wrong and apologises for misbehaving and Dyson lets him have his blades back. And she has had them repaired!

Kat doesn't want that Con goes to USA. She is angry with Con because he didn't tell about his request. She asks Brooks that she may go to USA but the teacher replies that she has slight chance because everybody wants to go to USA.

Con wants to sell his car to Bolton and Matt. Matt would like to buy it but he hasn't money and asks Con if he can have a job at the Shark Pool. Kat tells to Con that she is pregnant and she doesn't eat and doesn't go to dance. On the next day Con go to Kat and tells to her that he won't go to Los Angeles and he wants to marry her. Kat confesses that she lied (Brooks spoke to Kat about Con and his dreams and asked Kat to allow Con to go away) and lets Con to go to L.A.

Con and his father employ Matt in the Shark Pool. At the end everybody say farewell to Con in the Shark Pool by a rap

The new boy comes to Hartley. His name is Declan Costello. He beat somebody in his old school and he had to leave his school. He'll be in 'our' class. Bell knows that he was good at physics and asks a question about an experiment. Bolton and Declan also answer but Declan's answer is correct.

Con's father invites Allie and Matt to a dinner (I don't know why). He undertakes that he'll train them to the footrace of the school.

The girls (especially Kat) like Declan. Bolton doesn't like it because he wants to 'get' Kat. He tries to fight with him but Declan doesn't want to know. The teachers see it from a window and Dyson tells to Declan that if he does this again he'll have to leave this school. Bolton challenges Declan for a fight to the Shark Pool. Declan doesn't want fight but when Bolton takes his hand to a billiard-ball Declan hits his hand with the cue.

Bolton steals Brooks' cassette-player to worm himself into Kat's confidence. Dyson calls him and Declan to his office to talk about the fight and the cassette-player. They say that nothing happened in the Shark Pool and they are friends. Dyson accuses Bolton of stealing because he was in the school early but Declan says that Bolton helped him to wash the test-tubes (in truth Dani helped him).

Bolton shows the player to Kat but she doesn't go to raptures because Bolton takes the player to Kat's locker. Kat tells it to Declan. He agrees to helping her.

Suddenly in school break music comes from the speakers. Everybody dances. Bell begins to search the source but he must follow a very-very long wire across the school from one floor to another. Finally he finds Brooks' player in the refuse. He smiles at Declan.

Kat steals Declan wallet but he is very angry because his mother's prescription is in the wallet. Bordino continues the training with Matt, Allie and Declan. In the baseball match on Bell's class Stassy and Kat start a fight. Bell punishes Stassy: she must be in the school after the classes. When her father comes with his truck Stassy cleans her make up and changes her dress. She tells to her father that Bell troubles her. Her father tells it to Dyson and she suspends Bell temporary. The class especially Declan worry when Dyson comes to the class instead of Bell.

In the lunch-break Kat goes to Declan's house because she doesn't dare to give back the wallet to Declan. She talk to Declan's mother and Declan's mother says that Declan's father isn't found there. When Kat comes out from the house she meets Declan who gives Kat a good dressing-down.

Dyson speak to Stassy's father and the man says that he'll bring to trial this case. Then Stassy confesses that she told a lie because she is afraid of her father.

Somebody steals something from Kat's locker and Declan just smiles. At the end Stassie apologises and the others invite her to the Shark Pool.

Allie and Matt go to a Friday 13th party and Bolton also leaves the garage so Dani must watch the film alone.

Matt calls Allie to dance but she wants to play pool with Declan. She recommends Matt to ask Stassy. Stassy dances with Matt and when the lights go out from a thunderbolt Stassy kisses Matt. When the lights come back they talk over that they don't speak about this.

When Dani watches the film somebody rings but she doesn't understand what says in the phone. She hears some noise from the attic but nobody is there. She rings to Kat and asks her to come over. When she arrives there is some calls again. Dani suspect Bolton. She calls the police and tells the case. They look round but they find nothing. Kat and Dani block the door. Matt asks Allie to go home.

Bell tells about his fear (when he was child his parents closes him into his room in dark and there was others (ghost? aliens??)). Brooks says that she is afraid of nothing but when a cockroach appears she begins to scream.

The policemen catch Bolton because he tries to enter in the window because he doesn't have his key. When Matt and Allie arrive at home they can't go in because the girls fall asleep. They have to sleep in the car. Next day Dani finds a toy-bear in her bed. The baby goats rescue Bolton from the police.

When Dani speaks again to the cleaner she recognises his voice: he was the caller. She and her friends go to his room and Dani finds her photo there. She ask the boy who answers: he break in the house to give a gift and he wants to be Dani's friend.

Dani tells it to Dyson who dismiss him but finds him a new job.

Bolton takes a computer to Gary and they play with the machine. Gary speaks about his accident: he drunk and crashed his car. His girlfriend wasn't hurt but he didn't want to meet with her anymore. He blames his mother for this because he feels that she didn't bring up him only built her career.

Matt says to Allie that he is love her very much and they have a very good night... Stassy goes to Matt but she doesn't know that Allie and Matt live together. Stassy is angry with Matt because he can't choose.

Dyson buys new computers to the school with CD-ROM and Internet access. She asks her son to help the teachers. Gary discredit his mother in the other teachers presence. Bolton speaks with him and he says that Gary try to make friends, don't be withdrawn and don't blame others.

When the boys and girls try to make approaches to Stassy she says to Matt that he doesn't touch her anymore. Allie hears this and Dani confesses that she knew this. Allie cries and tells to Matt that it's over and either he goes or she does.

Gary and his mother are reconciled and he doesn't go back to the sanatorium.

Stassy borrows homework from Allie. When Brooks asks Stassy about the similarities Stassy says that Allie copied the homework from her!

Allie, Dani and Bolton haven't enough money for the garage-rent. Declan borrows the money from them because he says he can double it. Meanwhile Stassy confesses the truth to Brooks but she doesn't beg Allie's pardon.

Declan plays pool for money and he loses. When some boys begin to fight and Matt goes to pacify them, Declan steals the money from the cashier. He goes to Leo's house to play poker but he loses it again.

Kat tries to catch Matt but he doesn't want to go out with her. Matt still loves Allie but she can't forgive Matt. Bolton tries to catch Kat but she doesn't want to go out with him. Declan sells his guitar and gives back the money to Dani. She says to him that he can get out of the difficulty.

Matt tells the stealing to Bordino who forgives Declan. He must paint advertisements for his debt.

Brooks asks Stassy and Declan to try teach the children in the school. They accept the offer. Declan makes a very good impression but the students laugh at Stassy because of her make-up and dress. Declan says to Stassy that she would try to be herself.

Bolton's employer says that he'll employs him if he works well. Kat must work as a receptionist: she answers the phone and makes coffee for the boss and she dislikes it, because she wants to learn about advertising and marketing. The reporter who employs Dani and Allie hears that Dani was drug-addict and she wants to make a report-film about it. Dani agrees to this.

Next day Stassy comes to school without make-up. She teaches a good lesson. Brooks and Bell are satisfied with them. Bolton's employer dismisses him because he measured wrongly an expensive carpet. Kat leaves her job because her boss steals her idea.

Dani and Allie also leave their job because the film about Dani doesn't tell the truth. The reporter twists Dani's words. She protects herself with the viewers' expectations. They write down the true story but she isn't interested in that.

At the end Ronnie asks what they had learned and Bolton says "the real world is a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there!

Matt tries to put his relationship with Allie to rights but she doesn't want it. Meanwhile Bell's old girlfriend appears and asks him to go on an expedition to the Antarctic.

Kat talks over with Matt that tonight she'll be in the Shark Pool to prove her reliability. Meanwhile Dani, Allie, Matt, Declan, Bolton, Stassy are in the garage and they're writing the homework. Dani's jealous of Stassy because of Declan and Allie's also jealousies of her because of Matt.

In the Shark Pool are some bad boys who shut Kat into the office and they break the room into bits. Matt gets an electric shock in the garage, his heart is stopped, but Stassy and Dani revive him. In the hospital Allie tells Matt that she wants a relationship again.

Kat and Helen cleans the Shark Pool, and Helen promises that she won't tell this to Roberto. Kat makes extra profit and she has good ideas to make more. Roberto praises her.

In the end Bell announces that he'll go to Antarctic. (good fucking riddance! hah ha!) Allie, Dani and Stassy become friends.

Stassy doesn't do her homework. She confides in Ronnie that her family is from Bosnia and that her uncle and their friends have disappeared. She must take care of her brothers and do the housework and her father doesn't allow her to go out. Bolton eavesdrops on this and next day he wants to solace her and gives her a flower and tells her that he understands her.

Kat writes staks of emails and seeks mail-friends on the Internet.

In the last turn of the competition the participants must discuss racism in Australia. Bolton delivers a stirring speech about foreigners and their reception and Hartley wins the competition. Linda tells him that she and her family will return to Taiwan. Next day Stassy brings a flower to Bolton and she says that she feels sorry for the happenings with his girlfriend and congratulates him on his speech.

Kat gets acquainted with Charlie over the Internet. She makes a retouched photo about herself because she has written that she is blond.

Dyson teaches the girls in the car-repair class and a new teacher arrives, Tom Summers, to teach the boys in the cooking-class (interesting cast...).All the girls have a crush on the new teacher but the boys think heīs a creep.

Allie writes a novel about students and school. Tom says that his girlfriend works at a publisher company and if it's a good novel she can publish it.

Declan sings at the Shark Pool and the profit is increasing. Tom lends Allie a book about writing. Matt is jealous of Tom because Allie and Tom meet too often. Matt and Tom play a basketball match but Tom is too rough and Dyson stops the playing and laces into Tom .He wants the boys to bake cake for the teachers and so they want to embarass Tom . Stassy says that there is a spice which has a laxative effect. The boys make the cake with this spice but Dyson appears and takes this cake to the parents-teachers meeting! In order to avoid this they make new cake without the spice but when they go to change the cakes Dyson takes the new cakes and mixes them with the laxative-cakes. They confess it to Tom and he overturns the cake-tray and so nobody gets to eat the laxative cakes.

The girls repair an old car and it works. Dyson praises both the girls and the boys for their good works and then she cancels the new lessons. Now the boys also like Tom because he has helped them and Charlie writes to Kat that he'll come to Hartley.

Dani's neighbour, an old and lonesome lady, dies and her friend says that she liked it when Dani came to her.

Bolton receives a $200 bill for his Internet usage .He has no further access until he has paid his bill. Declan's mother has multiple sclerosis and he wants to leave the school to tend his mother but she doesn't want this. Allie and Dani undertake that they'll go to single old pensioners to converse with them and offer them some company. Dani goes to a woman but she wants Dani to clean the house and make tea, etc., and she is loathsome.

Charlie says to Bolton that he has no contact with the band. Bolton wants to help him if he permits him to use his Internet access. Tom comes across this and punishes them. Bolton is furious at Charlie and so he tells Kat that Charlie has lied to her about the group. Kat goes mad and chases poor Charlie through the schoolyard.

Dani take's her neighbour's old friend to the woman and they both become friends. Allie, Kat and Dani help Declan's mother with the housework. Declan thanks Dani for this and kisses her. He decides not to drop out of school.

The showcase night goes perfect except for the fact that Stassy almost doesn't go because of her dad. Her mom helps her sneak off while her dad is gone so she does eventually make it to the Shark Pool and hers and Allie's project is a success. But, the next day Stassy's dad sees a picture of her in the paper and tells her she has to quit school or move out. She decides to move out and tells her mom that she can probably stay with the others at the warehouse. With hesistation from both Dani and Matt, Stassy is allowed to stay at the warehouse.

Stassy is in money trouble so Bolton goes to see Dyson - Stassy is not impressed. Allie and Dani send pictures of Stassy to a modelling agency and Stassy gets a surprising letter which says that the agency is very interested in meeting her.

Katerina admits to Charlie that she only said she would go out with him because she felt sorry for him. At the Shark Pool, Charlie saves Katerina from the advances of Leo. At school the next day he has suddenly gained the respect of everyone and becomes Mr. Popularity.

Charlie asks Matt to help him to become more "cool". The next day, Charlie comes w/o glasses, a new haircut and new clothes. All the girls are swooning over him, including Katerina. She tries to snag him and then fine tune a few details (like his music), but Charlie tells her to accept him the way he is. After some advice from Matt, she realises she was wrong and Charlie and Katerina finally hook up.

Stassy continues her modelling career with Bolton as manager. But she doesn't like it and after a catwalk mishap at the mall, she decides to drop the modelling thing despite not having a replacement job. But, some sort of assistance program comes through for her, so now she has no worries. And it looks like her and Bolton will become a couple (they kiss).

Lara, an old bandmate/girlfriend of Declan comes to see him with promises that he can be a part of the record deal she's about to cut. Dani has problems with her and tells Declan that she knows him and Lara are better suited and that she wants out of their relationship. Later Dani finds out that Lara is passing Declan's (and one of Dani's) songs off as her own to the record company. Declan confronts Lara and basically tells her to take a hike. And to make a happy ending, Declan and Dani get back together.

Allie wants to see Tom, but he's says that he's too busy these days, but that soon they can get together. Matt asks Allie to come over for dinner to celebrate her novel. Shortly after she's accepted, Tom asks Allie to go out. But, she says no and keeps her date with Matt. Dinner goes well, but it looks like they won't get back together.

Stassy and Bolton figure they're soulmates after they do this whole aura cleansing thing and Bolton has this vision of Stassy's dead gypsy grandmother. Stassy bleaches her hair and they both show up to school in togas. Stassy seems to have supernatural powers, except that Bolton finds out that they are all based on lies. Bolton blows up at Stassy and tell her he wants her out of the warehouse. Charlie cheers Stassy up by telling her that he believes in her and that she is pretty fantastic to realise the power of imagination. Nevertheless, Bolton apologises and they become friends again (and she get to stay in the warehouse).

They have discovered that Allie has won the fellowship to London, but, as she is told, she runs out of the room crying. Allie then tells Dani that she is pregnant. Dani assumes that it is Matt's. She goes and tells him that maybe he should have a talk with Allie. Dani later tells Matt and he goes to confront Allie. He promises that he will support Allie and even marry her. But she says to stay out of it and that it is more complicated that it looks. Allie goes to confront Tom, Matt and Dani see Tom's reaction, and Matt then realises that Tom got Allie pregnant and attacks him. Dyson threatens to expel Matt if he doesn't tell her the reason why he hit Tom. Tom says nothing and wants Allie to keep quiet also. Allie then finds out that the whole time their affair was going on, Tom asked Vicki to marry him. She realises her mistake and goes and tells Dyson the truth to get Matt out of trouble. Tom tries to apply for a transfer, but Dyson says his job is as good as gone. Allie accepts the fellowship but she will have to leave immediately so the baby can be born when she comes back.

The surprise party eventually works out and serves a dual purpose as a birthday party for Charlie and a going away party for Allie. Dani and Allie have a tearful goodbye and it looks like that was the last we'll ever see of Allie.

Kat has problems when Charlie helps Roberto with a burglar alarm. She doesn't want a boyfriend who is liked and is like Roberto. But, Charlie screws up the alarm so Roberto ends up not wanting to see Charlie again. This makes Kat happy and so she makes up with Charlie.

Bolton has it bad for Stassy and he buys her a beautiful diamond nose stud. The problem is her and Matt are finally together and Matt wants her to tell Bolton that she is with Matt. It's hard for her but she eventually tells Bolton. He's crushed. But it looks like he's okay with it because he gave her a smile in class later.

Kat suggests that they should enter a sort of lottery through Roberto's surf club to try and make money for Barney. They almost could have won except that Charlie wrote down a number wrong so they don't win. (although Charlie only wrote the wrong number down after Kat told him to!)

Matt and Stassy are still going strong and by the end of the episode it looks like they've decided to move in together.(Stassy also cuts her hair again.)

Ronnie has a blind date with a guy who's on Council. June comes over on the night of the blind date to make Ronnie feel more comfortable, except the date likes June more than Ronnie! (That's ok because Ronnie didn't like him anyway, but neither does June for that matter) June feels bad for Bolton and realises that if she pretends that she likes Roger (the guy on Council) she might get him to talk to the others on Council. Barney finds out that a company is bribing some members of Council to allow them to build apartments on Barney's land. Bolton tells Dyson and she persuades Roger to let the cat out of the bag. Everything works out and the bowling alley is saved.

Charlie's saved and his parents decide not to sell the house. So, he gets to stay at Hartely.

Matt has officially moved into the warehouse and has wasted no time in making the place his own. Dani feels a little crowded and suggests to Declan that maybe she could move into Declan's flat with his mom, Maria. This way they could be together and she could help out with Maria's illness. Declan makes a lame excuse that his mom would feel embarassed and Dani catches on. She gets it out of him that he thinks they are too young and that he wants to feel totally ready before he makes such a big commitment. Dani's upset but then they make up. But Dani seems to be more hurt then she lets on.

Kat thanks Stassy for her help and it finally looks like they're going to become friends.

Muck-up day has arrived but Dyson decides to call it off because the superintendant is coming to visit Hartley on that particular day. Bolton though, acts as ringleader in a coup d'etat type event in successfully bringing muck-up day back to Hartley. Everyone dresses up in militia type gear and camouflage and bombards the teachers. Someone throws a smoke bomb through a window and starts a small fire in the school. Dyson holds everyone responsible and threatens not to allow the kids to sit their HSC's until someone comes forth. Charlie has taped the event and they see that a guy that Matt got kicked out out school was the culprit. The kids call the cops and the guy is busted.

They all decide to make a time capsule and put their predictions about eachother and a memorable object into the capsule.

Dani has been offered a reporting job in Wollongong and decides to take it. Ronnie assures her that she can sit her HSC's there. Declan is hurt that she couldn't tell him earlier, but he gives Dani his love and wishes her the best.
