HBJB 30 Year Aniversary and Reunion

Brian Robinson (MD) and David Sykes, one of the first members

This event took alot of preperation, but was enjoyed by all. After all, 30 years is a long time so it was always going to be big! It was help at the Cedar Court Hotel in Huddersfield, and attended by hundreds of people, past and present members and their families.

The evening started off with a concert by the current HBJB, featuring many of the current soloists. After this, old members were invited to join in, as is the custom at what has become the yearly reunion just before christmas. Many exmembers had brought their own instruments as well as the odd spare they had in the closet, and current members donated their instruments to past players to allow them to join in. The band (if it could still be called that) then played a few rousing renditions of classics such as "Hootenanny" and "Instant Concert" and even though it was likely that the majority of the band hadnt played the pieces for years, it acctually didnt sound all *that* bad! Most people even remembered to stand up in the right places as well, which is often more than the junior band can manage!

Following the concert there were the usual speeches and presentations. Brian was given a frame containing many pictures from over his 30 years with the band, which hopefully will bring back many happy memories for him. The Band clubbed together to buy him a miniture version of his trusty Trumpet (which he is rarely seen without) along with Flowers (in band colours of course) for both Brian and Mrs Bridges, who has been a key figure in the band over its life time.

The party continued late into the night, with food and a disco layed, on but most people prefered to catch up on the old times, and I'm sure many friends were reunited that night.
