Course
Description:
....The
advisory course covers self-esteem, study skills, listening skills,
conflict resolution, tolerance, and diversity. This advisory course
is one way of helping middle schoolers adjust to the changes that
pervade their lives. The advisory course will promote a sense of
belonging, trust, and confidence which can help the middle school
student feel secure enough to solve personal problems. The advisory
course will also provide guidance in decsion-making and the
examination of alternatives to situations the student faces
daily.

Week 1- Self Esteem
Week 2- Peer Pressure
Week 3- Study Skills
Week 4- Listening
Skills
Week 5- Conflict
Resolution
Week 6- Tolerance and
Diversity
These lessons will be taught
through the use of worksheets, videos, stories, role plays, games,
and discussion. Cooperative learning techniques will be utilized for
most lessons.

Requirements:
..... Students will be expected to
participate in discussions and complete all class activites. Students
will be graded on a Pass/Fail grading system. Their grade will be
determined as follows: class participation, classwork,
projects.

advisory course covers our uniqueness, developing friendships,
setting goals, decision making, communication, conflict resolution,
different family structures, and career exploration. The advisory
course will promote a sense of belonging, trust, and confidence which
can help the middle school student feel secure enough to solve
personal problems. The advisory course will also provide guidance in
decsion-making and the examination of alternatives to situations the
student faces daily.
