My Name is Heather Chartrand, Rasing Quality Mini Lops, Jersey Woolies, and a now limited number of Dutch since 1999. I have put a lot of work, effort, searching, and, time into this page so I hope you enjoy it! Our rabbitry is located in the beautiful East Central Minnesota! We live on a hobby farm surrounded by tall pine tree woods, many lakes and rivers. We are actually right next to the Grindstone Lake which is the Deepest Natural Lake in Minnesota! My Bunny venture started out about 4 years ago. When I brought home 2 Mix bred bunnies and 2 Standard Rex a white and a black! From there on I learened about rabbits, read books, and discovered new things about them every day! We got our first show Dutch in 1999. It was a Tort Buck Named Max (He is now a GC and proud of it!) Well then I joined 4-H, showed for one show in our County fair. I asked Linda Neubauer and her 2 Daughters If i could attend a ARBA show with them. They Gladly said yes! My first show was in September 2000! We got some dutch and i was hooked! I got addicted and now we have flourished to over 100 rabbits! In the past we have also raised Rex, Dwarf Hotots, 1 Holland Lop, Netherland Dwarf, and Havanas! Many wonderful breeders have helped me along the way in my success of my 3 breeds. I would like to thank them, and they are... (drum roll, hehe) Well of course Linda Nuebauer, Marcia Hinklemann, Terri Erb, Marv Ingbritson & Sheri Sommars! I have been in 4-H for 4 years now! Currently now I am the Secretary of the Sunnside 4-H Club, and the Secretary of the Pine county rabbit PDC. In the past I have held offices of PDC Chair, 4-H Vice President, & 4-H Historian. I used the shows of 2001 as more learning, because there is allways more information to know. This is year we bought our first woolies, in January of 2001. Also at that same show in Januray of 2001, provided us with our first BIS winner, HC'S Chex, he is a homebred spolied baby! It was quite exciting. During the year of 2001 I ranked 2nd for Dutch, and 7th for Mini Lops in the MN sweepstake points. What happend in 2002? BIS- Chex 1/26/02 BIS- Gull Dern 4/26/02 BIS- Pearl July 02 Well for starters the 2002 show season was a total success, even though it was challenging it was very fun! The show season pretty much started out in Pueblo, Colorado. I had attended my first breed nationals, Mini Lop Nationals! This was a very fun show, not only because it was a national show, aslo becasue I had never been to Colorado before! So it happend, HCS Bubbles takes 10th place BSD, and HC'S Gamour Girl takes14th SJD. In the specialty show HC'S Bubbles takes 2nd place BSD, HC'S Glam Girl and HC's Spritzer take 9th and 10th place! This show was a great experience! As follows, go to a breed nationals, well then duh you cant miss a close ARBA Nationals! Yep we attended the 2002 ARBA National Convention in Peoria, Illinois. I thought going to a breed nationals was fun, ARBA nationals is way better!! There were tons of rabbits, very nice ones at that! It was a spectacular time! As for some nice results.. HC'S Petite 3rd SJD, HC's Orlando 9th SSB, HC'S Bubbles 9th BSD, and Yother's Vinny 4th SSB!! I plan on attending Mini Lop Natioanls in Kalamazoo, Michigan in April, also the 80th and 81st ARBA Conventions in Witchita Kansas, its going to be a family trip to Rode Island, its going to be a blast! We plan on primarily raising Mini Lops and Jersey Woolies. We will be cutting our Dutch herd in half! The Jersey Woolies have taken us by surprise! We are very attachted to these fluffy little bunnies! Now after a year our stock is pretty well established aquiring some very nice animals! 2003 Update- BIS- Atom 3/15/03 2 RIS- Peoria 3/15/03 1 2003 Show year has started out great taking BIS with Atom, and RIS with Peoria! , we have added some new top of the line woolies .. we finally have lots of wooly babies!!! |
