These reviews are nothing more then MY OPINIONS. Nothing more, nothing less. You are free to disagree, all opinions are made with a totally open mind with nothing to gain personally. And all reviews are based SOLEY on the recorded material. If a band is incredible live but sucks on CD, then the review is on the sucky CD. No review is a personal attack on anybody.
4 in tha Chamber (New York City, USA) - ...Existence (13 songs)
Damn, this is a good CD. Heavy as hell, but still played with emotion. Along the lines of Biohazard mixed with E-Town Conrete, with some Earth Crisis thrown in. Some rap influence on the vocals; screamed but understandable. A little hint of metal, but not overpowering. The songs topics range from the government to drugs to religion to just being real with yourself; without being preechy. Just an all around good CD.

43 Urban (Japan) - 21 Century Beatdown Style (2 songs)
Ya gotta love Japanese hardcore. This is the bands first demo and its not bad at all, I wish there were more songs though. Its got that slow, creepy NYHC feel to it, with a little rap influence and some really heavy breakdowns. This demo proves that the NYHC influence has spread literally all around the world.
9kills9 (Texas, USA) - s/t (6 songs)
OK, just so you right away, these guys are not a hardcore band. This is more of a metal band, but hey who isn't these days. They have a little Pantera thing going on, but more similiar to Fear Factory. If you're into that style then you'll like this.
Allan (Pennsylvania, USA) - ...About five Seconds (11 songs)
These guys are kinda' hard to describe. I wouldn't neccessarily call them a hardcore band, but they're not a metal band either.
More of wierd-core if there is such a thing. Imagine if the Deftones were'nt such faggots, that would describe Allan. It all depends on your tastes with this CD. If you like straight up hardcore then you might not be into this. If you like crazy, chaos type shit like Neck, then its for you.

Backfire (Holland, Europe) - Still Dedicated (12 songs)
The general stereotype in music is that most places are a few years behind the U.S.A. In this case that happens to be a good thing. This is just good hardcore music. No Hatebreed-wanna-be type metal, or whiny emo-crap. Good aggresive hardcore; plain and simple, nothing fancy. Also features a Chain Of Strength cover

Big Dumb Face (Florida, U.S.A.) - Duke Legion Fights The Terror (12 songs)
GODDAMN!!! I don't know that there are words in the English language that can fully describe how bad this CD is. For those of you that don't know, this band (and I use the term loosely) features that retard guitar player from Limp Bizkit. Gee, I wonder how they got signed. I am left speechless after listening to this crap. This may be the worst thing ever put to tape.

Blood For Blood (Boston, U.S.A.) - Outlaw Anthems (11 songs)
Oh look society just wiped spit off of its face, here comes another gob right in its eye. Everytime I listen to these guys I like them more and more. This is what hardcore is about; fast, angry, and not giving a shit what people think about them. This unfortunatly seems to be their last release, but its a good one. Its what you expect from Blood for Blood, more of what makes them who they are. Pick it up and play it loud so your parents can hear it!!

Blood For Blood (Boston, U.S.A.) - Wasted Youth Brew (25 songs)
Well as a straightedge person I am deeply offended by this CD. Now getting that bullshit out of the way, I have to say I love this CD. Its pretty much a "best of" CD compiling 14 studio recorded songs from over the years and it also features 11 live songs taken from a show in Boston. If you have never heard these guys here's the description...imagine Agnostic Front mixed with Murphy's Law but with more attitude and that kinda' sums it up. Basically this is what bands like No Redeeming Social Value and the like want to sound like, but can't.

Buried Alive (New York, U.S.A.) - Last Rites (14 songs)
These guys remind me of a "Firestorm" era of Earth Crisis, but a little more up tempo. They definitely have the metal thing going on, with the Karl-like vocals, but before his vocals got really heavy and were still understandable. I like the CD which includes 9 new studio songs and 5 live songs, but it gets a little boring after a while. They seem to have fallen in the same trap that so many other bands do; lacking diversity from one song to the next. The songs are good, but repetitive.
Burning Heads (France, Europe) - Escape (15 songs)
Very punkish hardcore, and well done. I hear a lot of Gorilla Biscuits influences here, with a little of that commercial type Green Day or Offspring thrown in. Not a lot of those stompy metal breakdowns, but if your looking for some good punk-type hardcore you might want to give this a try.

Catch 22 (New Jersey, USA) - Alone In A Crowd (22 songs)
Well, I guess this is ok if you like ska, personally I can't get into ska at all. They kinda' sound like a bad version of Sublime though. Who knows; ska sucks.
Chokeslam (New York, USA) - Hide Your Daughters (6 songs)
Young band from upstate NY with an old school type feel to it.
Kind of a joke band with the opening song called "My Van Is Fast" (its an ode to the A-Team), and a cover of the Humpty Dance song. But they do have a serious side. They remind me a little of early No Redeeming Social Value.

Carved In Stone (Maryland, USA) - s/t (9 songs)
Brutal!!
Damn this is heavy. Along the lines of a Hatebreed style, but heavier and less generic. Lotsa' speed beats and breakdown dance parts. All that stompy stuff that makes the kids do those crazy windmills. Good Production also.

Cause For Alarm (New York City, USA) - Nothing Ever Dies (21 songs)
This is a "best of" CD for this NYC hardcore founding band. It also has 2 new songs. I know these guys are one of the bands that started everything in hardcore, but I just cannot get into it. To me they lack the energy of a Gorilla Biscuits or Agnostic Front. If you like CFA then by all means, you must get this CD. If not, then you might want to pass it up.
Darkest Hour (Washington DC, USA) - So Sedated, So Secure (8 songs)
And hardcore takes one more step towards metal. I guess for a metal-core band it's ok. I'm sure you can bang your head and wave around your hair to it. If thats what your into then by all means go check this out. I always liked it when bands did something different from other bands, but hey that's just me.

Denied (New York City, USA) - demo tape (4 songs)
These guys have been around for a while, but this demo is to introduce their new singer. There is good news and bad news; the good news is that the new singer is WAY better then the old one, the bad news is that you can barely here it because the production is so bad. It is definitely a step in the right direction, even the music is better then it used to be. It is much less genereic then the old Denied style. If you like "beatdown hardcore", then you'll like these guys.

Drawn From Within (Pennsylvania, USA) - ...Ashes To Hope (6 songs)
This CD reminds me a little of Agnostic Front, but maybe with a little Snapcase influence in there in the music. It's not bad, but nothing really groundbreaking though here.

Earth Crisis (New York, USA)- Last Of The Sane (11 songs)
Basically this CD is Earth Crisis doing some covers. The covers include songs by Slayer, Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath, Dead Kennedys, Rolling Stones and the Misfits. The songs sound pretty cool if your into covers, I always find it interesting to hear a band do a song that isn't really their style. The only problem is this: What is Earth Crisis' style now? They went in a different musical direction with the last album, and now this one is moving back to the original style with some of the raspy vocals of old. It seems to me that either this was recorded before "Slither" was, or they didn't like their new style. Its also got a new song on it and 2 old Earth Crisis favorites.

Earth Crisis (New York, USA)- Slither (13 songs)
This is VERY different from the old Earth Crisis that we are used to. Its not bad, its just very different, it actually reminds me a lot of Downset. Karl even sings on this! There is much less of the growling like on the recent albums. The music itself is pretty good also, better then Breed The Killers. I am kinda' liking it, although I know many of you who used to love them might not be into it. Only one question; is that a leather jacket Karl is wearing on the inside jacket of the CD?

Earth Crisis Website
Enrage (New York City, USA) - The Definitive... (21 songs)
I believe that this is the total discography of this Staten Island band. It spans 10 years of the bands music and its not bad at all. It reminds me of a heavier Fahrenheit 451, with some early Life Of Agony influence in there. You can here their musical progression through the years so its hard to pinpoint one definite style. Its got a lot of melody which is rare in hardcore today.

Enrage Website
E-Town Concrete (New Jersey, USA) - Second Coming (11 songs)
A lot of people see E-Town Concrete as just another tough guy band; that is the furthest thing from the truth. This CD may not be as good as thier first one, but it is a damn good follow up. The music and the lyrics are more emotional, but they still retain their heaviness; especially with the vocals. Despite all the rumors and crazy stuff surrounding them, they still put out an excellent CD.

E-Town Concrete Website
Endless (Pennsylvania, USA) - With Everything Against Us (14 songs)
Very similiar to Shutdown with that youth crew style old school hardcore. If your into that style that started all those circle pits in CBGB's on sundays, then this is definitely for you. You also get a cover of Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It", how can you go wrong?

Endless Website
Grade (USA) - Headfirst Straight To Hell (15 songs)
I heard a lot about these guys, but this is the first time I had a chance to listen to anything from them. Its not bad, a little on the commercial side, but not bad. If your looking for some crunchy, stompy, kick you in the face hardcore then pass this by in the record store. But if you like bands like Poisen The Well, Shai Hulud, Culture or One King Down then this might be for you. It's a little more sung then those bands, but comparable.

Hoods (California, USA) - Time...The Destroyer (12 songs)
I have to say that when I say this in the mail I was really exited. I loved their old CD "Alone" and I was hoping that this was something similiar to that. It looks like I have been disapointed once again. If you close your eyes real tight you would swear it was 25 ta' Life. It is worth giving it a shot, maybe you will feel differently, but for me it does nothing to remind me of their old stuff.

Horse Of A Different Color (New Jersey, USA) - s/t (10 songs)
This is a good effort from this NJ hardcore band. I like the fact that the songs are very different from each other; it keeps the listeners interest. The best way to describe them would be a combination of Gorilla Biscuits and for some reason I am getting a Faith No More feel from them. I like their style and if they keep it up I can see them going somewhere fast.

Ignite (California, USA) - A Place Called Home (13 songs)
This is a damn good CD. For those of you who have never heard Ignite, they are a fast paced, positive, sung hardcore band. From start to finish these are just good songs, although it is not perfect. There is a thin line between being positive and being preechy, and they crossed it just a little. It doesn't take away from the quality, but its the one thing that annoys me about the CD. Definitely worth picking up.

Ignite Website
Inhuman (New York City, USA) - Rebellion (10 songs)
HELL YEA!! Old School mothafucking hardcore. Lace up the boots and get that circle pit going. From start to finsh its hardcore like it was 15 years ago, except with better production. Its an all-around good CD, the only drawback may be not enough songs.

Inhuman Website
Integrity (Ohio, USA) - Closure (11 songs)
This band gets wierder every time I hear them. On this CD they have their usual deathcore type style, which is well done but done before. But they also have some somber chamber music and chanting in some of the song intros. Normally I would be into that kind of stuff, but with these guys its just scary. The wierdness starts when you open the booklet and see no pictures of the band, or and type of lyrics or any info. Just some eerie Blair Witch looking pictures. If you like Integrity then I'm sure you'll love this CD, but if you don't, then you might not want to experiment with this CD
