After years of devoted service to both hardcore fans and underground music, SICK OF IT ALL brings forth Yours Truly. The appreciative title reflects the band’s commitment to their fanatical international following, and is a sincere gesture of gratitude to the thousands who have sweat along with them in the many sold out shows. The pleasantries end there however, as Yours Truly is a record so aggressive and dark that all hardcore lovers will acknowledge it’s fury and authenticity. The band has this to say about Yours Truly, "The title berates the manufactured and bogus celebrity status that most top-ten artists enjoy nowadays, because ‘stars’ aren’t called upon to write, produce, or approve their own creations; what SOIA stands for is something true, no matter how much it limits our appeal to the masses." The rage-filled Yours Truly is the gift-that-keeps-on-giving to the hardcore scene.
As torchbearers of this only true remaining worldwide musical underground, SICK OF IT ALL is the one band upon which each and every fan can depend. From Iceland to Japan, from Argentina to the UK, hardcore fans have remained under the commercial radar for going on two decades strong. Whether deliberately shunned or accidentally overlooked by the mainstream, these hundreds of thousands of kids live for something that cannot be fabricated or target-marketed to them: lyrics that capture their alienation, music that channels their rage, and the emotional release provided only by the most energetic and communal of live shows.
Things are definitely looking up for the foursome, especially with their latest release. When describing Yours Truly guitarist Pete puts it best, "In all reality, it’s the best thing we’ve ever done." Drummer Armand agrees, and offers an explanation as to why, "The songs have more focus, the band gelled unlike ever before in the studio, and producer Steve Evetts really built upon the foundation that we laid down." Each member firmly agrees that this record is not only their strongest, but that the new songs will also translate to great live sets.
Yours Truly is also SICK OF IT ALL’s second record for the seminal San Francisco-based punk label, Fat Wreck Chords. After serving time on labels both independent and major, SICK OF IT ALL has finally found a fitting home. And despite being on a label that has a distinct style, SICK OF IT ALL remains true to their sound and strives to be unique. Never has that been more true than with Yours Truly. Armand says, "We tried to diversify the songs. Each song has it’s own identity, and even though we touch on other styles, there’s always that SICK OF IT ALL trademark." Armand continues, "We focused more on the melody within the music, and tried to get the most out of every song. What really makes this record our best is that Lou is hitting all sorts of notes."
Yours Truly, SICK OF IT ALL’s sixth and arguably best album, draws upon virtually every stage of the venerable career of hardcore’s foremost outfit. Blistering songs like "District", "Blown Away", and "Hello Pricks" will appeal to the hardcore purist. While tuneful songs like "America" and "Souvenir" demonstrate the band’s songwriting progress. SICK OF IT ALL’s constant raising of the hardcore bar is clearly evident on Yours Truly, and illustrates their hunger for excellence as a band. Few bands truly challenge themselves musically to the extent that SICK OF IT ALL does, and even fewer bands meet that challenge.
Mi opinion for the band:SICK OF IT ALL-superb...I love them
