The following poem has been inspired by a visit to the "Little Angels In Heaven" website. The author was greatly affected by the stories she read there, and then by an incidence that very same day in her own city. She created this poem for Little Angels, and gave me permission to post her it on my site. Thank you so very much. |
I Saw Your Name Today By SunRae, 2001 I saw your name in the news today. I quietly hung my head to pray. I saw the angel's face adorn the page titled obituary. I saw in mournful rage. I saw un-natural causes a stoic epitaph. Hands of supposed loved one caused pain, death, wrath. I wasn't supposed to view your name this way. I couldn't forget even though I tried. It was supposed to be chronicled in years of accomplishments and pride. "little league winners" "made the honor roll" "graduated high school" "achieved honors degree" "entered the military" "wed today" "became the parents of" I didn't see your name in the news these days, because I saw your name today. Today you were the fatalityat the hands of a loved one God saw your name today, written on heaven's scrolls. Now listed as one of his littlest angels. |
