Laugh with Santa Claus

SantaSt. Nicholas warmed the hearts of his parishioners by performing good deeds behind their backs. Let your hearts be warmed by Santa humor from the mouths of children.

Children Solve the Mysteries of Santa

December 6 is the feast day of St. Nicholas, the saint whose selfless acts transformed the way we celebrate the season of light. He has become all things to all people, and in North America he is portrayed as a jolly fat old man with a hearty chuckle. Seeing that laughter is good for the soul, let me share with you some wisdom spoken by children in their interpretations of Santa.

St. Nicholas is also the patron saint of children, so I am sure that he would enjoy himself, if he were to read how today's children see him.

    Why is Santa so fat?

Joshua, age 3: He eats too fast.

Katie, age 4: 'Cause God made him fat.

Zach, age 7: He wants to be jolly.

Peter, age 8: There aren't any health clubs at the North Pole.

    What makes reindeer fly?

    Patrick, age 9: Strong coffee.

Erin, age 7: Rudolph's nose makes them fly.

Gerard, age 7: They came from the same planet as E.T.

    Why doesn't Santa ever die?

Amber, age 8: He only works one day a year.

Jesse, age 5: He takes vitamins.

Tara, age 7: He and God are related.

    What makes Rudolph's nose glow?

Cody, age 4: He ate a cherry.

Landon, age 6: There's a firefly in it.

Jamie, age 5: It got sunburned when he flew to Florida.

Hannah, age 7: He got born that way. That's how it is in the movie.

Bob, age 9: 'Cause there's a red sort of glass thing and light connected to his nose.

How does Santa get in a house with no chimney

Karen, age 4: He uses a key.

Steven, age 11: One of his elves is a locksmith.

Why does Santa say "ho, ho, ho"?

Whitney, age 10: Ho, ho, ho are jolly words.

Jessica, age 12: Because it's "Silent night, ho-ly night."

Why doesn't Mrs. Claus come with Santa when he delivers toys?

Ryan, age 10: She always tells him where to turn, so Santa won't let her come. My mom does that.

David, age 6: She thinks he drives too fast.

What do the elves do when Santa is out?

Carson, age 10: They go to Disney World to visit their friends, the seven dwarfs.

Mike, age 9: They eat shrimp and play miniature golf.
