John Ryder graduated MB ChB from Otago University in 1969 followed by postgraduate
training in Occupational Medicine at Auckland University in 1997. Following
graduation he worked as a resident at Wellington and Nelson hospitals before entering
solo General Practice in Nelson City in 1973.
He held an appointment as visiting anaesthetist at Nelson Hospital until 1993 and is
currently Medical Officer to the Intellectual Disability Support Service for Nelson -
Marlborough Health Services Ltd.
Currently studying for a Postgraduate Diploma in General Practice (Otago University). This includes
papers already completed on Travel Medicine, Refugee and Migrant Medicine & Contemporary NZ Primary Health Care.
