What is Healthy Families?

    Healthy Families is an exciting national initiative designed to strengthen families by providing in-home support and education to individuals and families who are experiencing stressful times in their lives. 

   The Healthy Families Bergen County program, offered by Care Plus NJ , is available to first-time mothers delivering a child at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, who utilize the out-patient clinic and reside in Bergen County.  Referrals are welcomed from the medical community or by other professionals on either a pre-natal or post-natal basis.  All services are offered on a voluntary basis and are provided free of charge to all families participating in the program.

What will Healthy Families Bergen County do for me?

   The Healthy Families Bergen County program provides weekly, in-home visitation services from trained Family Support Workers (FSW's).  The FSW's assist parents in many different ways, including:

	Enhancing family functioning by building trusting relationships
	Teaching problem solving skills
	Helping to improve the family's support system
	Assisting parents in finding ways to deal with situations that are stressful to themselves and their children
	Promoting positive parent-child interactions
	Promoting healthy childhood growth and development
