A Dignified Savior
“…he humbled himself unto death, yea, the death of the cross.” – Philippians 2:8
The faith once delivered has been obscured. The great news of forgiveness of sins has been muffled in an array of lesser teaching which cannot beget the surrender of our life, to receive his. Pleas and practices are lifeless to impart his life. The earliest disciples lived the joy of sin forgiven – by confessing it. Hear Peter, “closing his eyes, having forgotten the cleansing from his old sins.”
Because Jesus humbled himself to the death of the cross, our most shameful behavior may be covered by his life-given. It is tragic to fail to announce, that the One who humbled himself can only be received by humbling ourselves. But teachers are often dignified, and speak of many things, yet seldom specify sin and call for a humbling among us. James 5:16 may be quoted, but is seldom practiced.
What if Jesus had maintained his dignity by never touching the blind, the lepers, the dead? What if he had refused to humble himself to the death of the cross? What if he had maintained his dignity as we maintain ours? If Jesus had insisted on being a dignified Savior, the most he could have had would be dignified disciples. What about me?
