"If any man willeth to do his will, he shall know of the teaching, whether it is of God, or I speak from myself."
John 7:17
These words were spoken in the midst of the feast of tabernacles to the leaders of the people. They were proud of their knowledge of the Law, and their traditions.
But they had a problem.
They were not interested in doing the will of God.
We may find ourselves like them.
It is more comfortable for us to reason,
than to surrender our selves.
We are easily diverted from seeing and doing the will of God.
There are so many church-related things we may do.
It is easy to deceive ourselves about being willing to do his will.
We know how easily we are led astray from prayer.
Prayer that exposes our self-will and other sins.
In prayer God shows us ourselves.
There He will give transforming power.
Am I willing to know His will?
Paul wrote to Timothy warning him that men would,
"be lovers of self, lovers of money,...holding a form of godliness,
but having denied the power thereof." 2 Timothy 3:2-5
Regard for God,
leads us through prayer,
to God's power to actually change us.
Repeated surrender is blessed by continuing transformation .
" for thus says the Lord Jehovah, the Holy One of Israel,
in returning and rest shall you be saved;
in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength;
and you would not." Isaiah 30:15
