5th “Because Christ also suffered for sins once,
the righteous for the unrighteous,
that he might bring us to God.” 1 Peter 3:18
These words written by Peter give us a truth that is full of comfort.
Because we have received Jesus
we understand we are brought to God by him.
Because we have seen our sin, we believe
“he ever lives to make intercession for (us)”. (Hebrews 7:25)
Our need to be brought to God is seen in Jesus’ teaching that unless we turn and become as little children we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 18:3)
To turn and become as little children indicates the humbling required to be led.
In surrendering pride, we receive the joy of knowing we are loved.
All of the exchanges the Lord has prepared bless us.
“that he might bring us to God” was chosen to convey our being are cared for.
All who surrender to Jesus come to know this peace.
We eat the bread to remember he did the Father’s will, fulfilled the law,
to “bring us to God”; a loving older brother who has found us little ones that wandered off, and gently leads us home
read 1 Peter 2:21-25
Father we have all wandered off in our own direction. Like small children,
we all need to be led back to You.
Thank you for giving up your son to the death of the cross,
that he might bring us to You.
Work in our hearts to make his death and resurrection,
the events thru which we see everything and everyone.
Forgive us our thoughts that are without him and You.
Because Jesus poured out his soul unto death,
his life now covers the lives of all who trust him.
Our life is now hid in his. Colossians 3:3
But our hearts are prone to wander, like sheep over the hills.
We need our shepherd. We need to listen for his voice, and obey him.
read 2 Corinthians 5:11-15
Father We need your care always. You gave up your son to the cross,
and sent your Spirit into our hearts.
Cause us to hear his voice and follow him to You.
Cause us to know You have chosen us in him.
Set before us the hope of seeing your face. (Revelation 22:4)
