"The Purr-fect Companion" ![]()
The Maine Coon"The Gentle Giant"To have a Maine Coon is to be "owned" by a very loving, alert, and comical companion for life. Maine Coons thrive on attention, and give back even more than it receives. The purr'fect cat doesn't exist in my humble opinion, but the Maine Coon comes closest of all. These cats are slow developers, taking three to four years to reach maturity. Maine Coons love to sleep in the most peculiar positions and strangest places. The inside of a tractor wheel is an all time favorite of the farm Maine Coon.

The Himalayan"The Fluffy and Gentle Sweetheart"In America, the first Himalayans were produced from the crossing of a Siamese with a black Persian. The breed was recognized in the mid 1950's as the Himalayan. All "Himmie" babies are born white, with the average litter consisting of four kittens. As their warm bodies cool, colors appear on the ear tips and the tails darken. The lightest color is lilac while the darkest is seal. Color points include seal, chocolate, blue , flame, tortie, cream, lilac, and lynx. The Himalayan enjoys being around people and is devoted to it's owner. It's gentleness makes it ideal for small children and the elderly.

The Persian"Americas Most Popular Breed"Persian cats, because of their beauty were often used as items of trade as early as the 1500's. The Romans introduced the Persian to Europe, and they were bred to continue their long, flowing coats. By the early 1900's Persian cats were exported to the United States from Great Britain, where breeding for their lovely features has continued to this day. The Persian is a medium sized cat with heavy bones, a cobby frame, round eyes and head. Their long flowing coat is the trade mark of the Persian who can be one of sixty-five different colors. The Persian color divisions are solid, shaded, smoke, tabby, parti-colored, bi color, and of course the ever popular Himalayan color points. The Persian makes a wonderful choice as a family pet because of it's sweet and gentle nature. They are natural hams for the camera and love being the center of attention. It is believed that any Persian with red in it's coat tends to be more active while the solid colored cat tends to be a bit more laid back. Grooming your long haired cat is a daily must, and once a routine of brushing is established, you and your cat will enjoy it. The "untangler" comb is an excellent choice to use on your Persian's coat.
