My dad was born 22 February 1940 in Cookeville, Putnam Co, TN, to W.A. McCormick and Pearl Burnett McCormick. He was born at home just as his 7 brothers and sisters before him had been and his younger brother would be in a little over 2 years. They were a farm family, and life wasn't always the easiest. There were chores to do before and after school, and when his mother passed away just before his thirteenth birthday, many of the cooking duties fell to him.

Just after his eighteenth birthday, my father dropped out of high school despite the fact that he was only a little more than 3 months from graduation. He went north to Maysville, KY, to live with his brother Carl and his family, and that's where he met my mother. My mother, Shirley, was only 14 when my parents met, and she was only 18 when they married on 26 May 1962. I was born on 30 May 1963, and my brother was born on 6 February 1966. My parents are hard workers, and they have had a lot of jobs in their time. My dad worked as a mechanic in service stations and for the state of KY, he's worked in factories, been a short order cook, and he's even been a policeman. My mom's jobs have ranged from inspector in a bicycle factory to waitress to assistant manager of a shoe store. Around the time of my birth, they co-owned a restaurant with my maternal grandmother. Now their hard work has paid off, and they own R.F. McCormick Equipment Sales, a farm implement dealership.

My parents have always been one to help the underdog, and that's something they've tried to instill in my brother and myself. To this time, they've taken into their home over 130 foster children of all ages. They won't turn away a stray whether it be human or of the four-legged variety.

Someone asked me once if I had any heroes. I only had to think for a second, and then I told them about my parents. If I can only do half as much as the two of them, then I will have lived a wonderful life.

My mother was born to Hestle Lee Fultz and Flora Dee O'Daire on 31 Mar 1944 in Huntington, IN. She was the baby of 4 children, but her oldest brother had passes away before she was born. Soon after her birth, her parents moved back to Maysville, Mason Co, KY. They both took jobs in the Maysville Cotton Mill, and both of them retired from there. My brother was born in Maysville, Mason Co, KY, to Randall F. McCormick and Shirley Lee Fultz on 6 February 1966. He graduated with honors from Putnam County Senior High School in 1984. He married Cheri Denise Carter (b 24 October 1967) on 21 March 1986, and their children Meagan Alisha and Caleb Lee were born on 4 November 1988 and 8 May 1990 respectively. Michael is currently studying AgriBusiness at Tennessee Technological University.
