- DEATHS -


  • HABERMEHL.-On the 24th inst., HENRY HABERMEHL, one of the survivors of the War of 1812, aged 72 years.

    The relatives and friends of the family, and the soldiers of 1812, are invited to attend his funeral, from his late residence, No. 748 South Sixth Street, below Fitz-Water, on Wednesday afternoon, at two o'clock, without further notice.



  • OLIVER.-On the 24th inst., JOHN W. OLIVER, in the 55th year of his life.

    The relatives and male friends of the family are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, from his late residence, No. 1710 Brown Street, on Wednesday morning, at 10 o'clock.



  • SPIEGLE.-On the 23rd inst., THOMAS HARTLEY, son of MOLLEDORE and LIZZIE E. SPIEGLE, in the 5th year of his age.

    The relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his funeral, from the residence of his parents, No. 1523 North Thirteenth street, on Tuesday morning, the 27th inst., at 10 o'clock.



  • SMITH.-The funeral services of WM. H. SMITH, U.S.N., will be held at St. Peter's Church, Third and Pine streets, on Tuesday, 27th inst., at 1 1/2 P.M.


  • VAUGHAN.- On the 23d inst, WILLIAM B. VAUGHAN, in the 77th year of his age.

    His relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from his late residence, corner of Shackamaxon and Richmond streets, Eighteenth Ward, on Monday afternoon at 1 o'clock. To proceed to Hanover street Vault. Funeral services in the REV. MR. EVA'S Church.



  • SHIELDS.-On Saturday, 24th inst., ELIZA SHIELDS, relict of JOHN SHIELDS, in her 71st year.

    Her friends, and those of the family are invited to attend her funeral, from her late residence, No. 42_ North Seventh street, on Wednesday afternoon, 29th inst., at 2 o'clock. Interment at Ronaldson's Cemetery.



  • JACOBS.-On the morning of the 23d inst., CHARLES JACOBS.

    His relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his funeral, from the residence of his brother, GEORGE W. JACOBS, West Whiteland, on Monday, 26th inst., at 3 o'clock P.M., without futher notice.

    Estate of SAMUEL DAVIS, Deceased.

    Will be sold at Public sale on the Premises, on the 12th day of 1st mo., January, 1865, at 1 o'clock P.M., the following described Real Estate

    No. 1 Consisting of all that certain tract of land situate in the township of Haverford, Delaware county, on the Radnor and Darby Road, six miles west of Marketstreet Bridge, containing 88 acres and 7.90 perches

    The improvements are Stone Mansion, 40 by 20 feet, with Kitchen; Stone Barn, 60 by 40 feet, will accommodate 30 head of live stock; Stone Wagon House, superior Spring House, and other Out buildings.

    This land is in a high state of cultivation and well watered.

    No. 2 Consisting of all that certain tract of Land situate in the township of Havorford, Delaware county, on the Philadelphia dn West Chester Plank road, six miles West of Market-Street Bridge, containing 75 acres 2 roods and 23-25 perches. The improvements consist of a Stone Dwelling House and Out kitchen; new Stone Barn, 70 by 50 feet, and other Buildings. Of this tract 20 acres are in wood, the rest cleared and in a high stateof cultivation. A stream fo water passes through the farm. This land fronts on Plank road and contains several splendid building sites.

    No. 3 Consisting of the tract of Land adjoining tracts Nos. 1 and 2 on Plank road, containing 44 1/2 acres. Of this tract 21 acres are in wood, the rest in good state of cultivation. A good stream of water passes through the place.

    No. 4 Consisting of all that tract of Land, situate in Upper Darby, county aforesaid, on the Radnor and Darby road, near Philadelphia and West Chester Plank road, containing 18 acres 22 perches. The improvements consist of a new Stone Dwelling House, 44 feet by 20, and Frame Stable.

    The above four tracts are in a good and improving neighborhood, and within 1 1/4 miles of the termination of the Delaware-county Passenger Railway.

    No. 5 Consisting of Stone Dwelling House, 32 by 30 feet, two and a half stories high; yard and garden containing 1 rood 4-70 perches; is situate on Darby and Radnor road, 1/2 mile above Garrettford road and six miles from the City.
