~Lessons Learned From Geese~ |
Fact # 1 By flying in V-formation, as each bird flaps its wings, the whole flock adds 71% more flying range than if each bird flew alone. |
Lesson # 1 People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another. |
Fact # 2 Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the *lifting power* of the bird in front. |
Lesson # 2 If we have such sense as a goose, we will step into formation with those who are heading where we want to go. |
Fact # 3 When the lead goose gets tired, it rotates back into formation and another goose flies at the point position. |
Lesson # 3 It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership interdependant with each other. |
Fact # 4 The geese in formation honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed. |
Lesson # 4 We need to make sure our honking from behind is encouraging, not something less than helpful. |
Fact # 5 When a goose gets sick or is wounded, or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow to get help and protect. They stay with the goose until it either dies, or flies away again. |
Lesson # 5 If we have such sense as geese, we will stand by each other, no matter what. |
