The Platters, Oh does that bring back memories.
This song was my all time favorite and still is, "The Great Pretender" sang in 1956.
Special thanks to Andy for this midi. I search the web could not find it, Andy came through for me again and put together this Midi. He has been blessed with music in his heart.
How I often wish the Lord had bless me with some music talent, to be able to sing or if I could read and play music, that will never be. Maybe someday I will find my talent.


THE PLATTERS as of now are
Monroe Powell, Wilson Williams, Verceal Whitaker,(the lady) Kenn Johnson and Allen Holland
They are still singing and making appearances.

THE MAGIC TOUCH
They have that Magic Touch, and they recorded a song by that name "That Magic Touch".
I have most of their records on old 45s.
The first great black vocal group to appeal equally to white audiences, The Platters released 35 hit singles songs between 1955 and 1962, one of the best of which is included here "THE GREAT PRETENDER" (and still sound as spine-tinglingly wonderful as ever).
The lead singer in the years 1954 to 1960 was Tony Williams.
There have been 3 lead singers over the years, Tony Williams being the first lead singer.
In the years of 1960 to 1970 there was Charles "Sonny" Turner.
In 1970 Monroe Powell join the Platters as the lead singer. He has been with the Platters for the past 26 years.
