Dad's 90th Birthday Celebration
Over the Thanksgiving holiday-2007, the descendents of Kenny Rentch gathered at North Myrtle Beach, SC to celebrate the patarich's 90th birthday. 18 family members were present to share stories, eat too much food, and just enjoy family for three days. A typical Thanksgiving Dinner was prepared by everyone with brother Steve acting as head chef. Three turkeys, a ham, and the annual side dishes were consumed. Afterwards, brother Jim presented a slide presentation of Kenny's athletic career in high school; plus a presentation of his military career during WWII aboard the destroyer, The Rodman. A seafood dinner, on Friday, that was prepared by everyone contributing a dish- Paella by Maria Rentch and her sister, Isabel; Chesapeake Bay Crab Cakes by Craig Rentch; Multitude of cooked shrimp by Lukas Rentch and Peanut Turner; Steamed Mussels by Casey Rentch; and lots of wine and beer were consumed by all. Afterwards, Jim presented another show of "The Seven Houses of Kenny Rentch". The highlight of the evening were testimonials by the grandchildren; in-laws; children; and finally a word from Kenny himself. Many a tear were shed throughout the evening. |
