George was born in Martinsburg, WV.. For some years he was employed by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, then later with the Berkeley Woolen Mill and the Jefferson Sales Co. George and Rosa bought the house he was born in for $5.00 from his father. They raised their at 432 E. Race St. George loved his cigars and beer, but was not allowed to smoke or drink in his own house because his wife, Rosa would not allow it. Both George and Rosa are buried in Rosedale Cemetery, Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV.
