Herbert G. Taylor, the third child of Brooke and Stella Taylor, was born in Grimes, Frederick Co., Va. Herb, as did his older siblings, lived on the family farm in Grimes. The same house that his grandfather-James T. Taylor, built in 1830. This house was originally built for James's two unmarried sisters- Eliza and Flora Taylor. The original house was a two-story log home, with a frame lean-to kitchen added later. Recently Herb finished a major restoration of the home. The home now has a chance of standing for another 100 years or more.
