Margaret Burridge, the second daughter of Brooke and Anna Leola Taylor was born June 19, 1918 in Grimes, Frederick Co., Va. Five months later, her mother, Anna, died during the Great Influenza Attack. As a result, the two sister moved between Grimes, Va. and Hedgesville, WV. a few times when their were young. Margaret spent most of her teen years in Hedgesville, living with her grandmother. She attended Hedgesville High School and later graduated from Shepherd College with a teaching degree. After a teaching elementary school in Martinsburg, Berkeley Co., WV, she met and married James Frederick Laise in 1947. They had two children; Margaret Susan, and James, Jr.The Laise family spent their early years in Atlanta, Ga. before moving to Winchester, VA. , where Jim worked in the Byrd Apple business. Jim died in 1976. Margaret still resides in Winchester in the same house on Whitlock Ave. to this day.
