Working as Kitchen Table Enterprises, we have assembled a PC-based registry processing system which will register and record animals by species and breed and maintain ownership and parentage information with full five-generation pedigree capability. The system is designed for purebred Livestock associations which ordinarily register 5000 or so animals a year; however, it is inclusive enough to support individual herd maintenance and genetic recovery/enhancement functions.

The system specifications include:

  1. Editing and validation of animal registrations.
  2. Printed registration certificates formatted to print on your existing forms or we can design and print a certificate for you.
  3. Periodic herdbook listings showing all animals recorded.
  4. Membership listings in several order and range options.
  5. Mail labels.
  6. Herd inventory maintenance.
  7. Printed pedigrees and inquiry reports. Three-, four-, and five-generation pedigrees, progeny listings, and herd inventories may be requested.
  8. KTRelation. This exclusive optional feature compares two animals, returning their relationship, one to the other. KTRelation is especially valuable in cases where a limited genetic base requires close scrutiny of breeding-age animals to avoid undesireable inbreeding. The inbreeding coefficient for an animal is stored with its file record.
About our name: we selected the name "Kitchen Table Enterprises" as the result of a conference where our goal was defined to be a service to the sort of association which typically operates from a small home office. Even the mighty Holstein Association USA began in the Putney, Vermont, farm kitchen of its first secretary! We suspect that there are many smaller organizations operating the same way, from the secretary's kitchen table!
