Why? Well, I have enjoyed Geocities and still recommend it. Up until recently, my ISP did not offer free web pages so I went with Geocities for my free site.

Now, since my ISP does provide web space, I have moved. Now, I don't have to inconvenience people with annoying advertisements, banners (like the one that just popped up) and such.
