Continental – Show Trim
1. Clip face as
per pet trim.
2. Decide where
the top of your leg poms are to be, and clip cleanly from this point evenly
around the leg Up to and including the elbows. Shape the leg poms neatly and
fairly small.
3. Get expert
advice for your particular dog as to where to place the line dividing the mane
from the shaved rear end.
4. Place hip
poms as illustrated. Keep them small, low and neat (shaped like half a
grapefruit). Do not allow overly large hip poms to obscure the dog’s perfect
tail set. Proper hip poms accentuate the length of the poodle's neck, and
revea1 his perfect rear end.
5. Shape rear
leg poms as illustrated, very little hair above toes, lots of shaped hair at
back of hock. This shape accentuates the dog’s "bend of stifle".
6. In scissoring
the mane, keep chest and belly hair VERY SHORT, hair on top knot, back of neck,
and ear feathering as LONG AS POSSIBLE. The shaping of the mane from waist to
topknot varies as the Coat grows-in length. Consult good show pictures and/or an
expert professional poodle handler.
7. Wrap
or band with orthodontic elastics, all skull hair, neck hair, and ear
feathering, to protect it from damage.
