Some excellent ideas and definitions of what conditions should be considered...something all novices MUST read...

I am looking for paperdolls...one set in particular is called "Little Orphan Annie and Mickey" whit.co.,1931, #938. Cut would be fine if complete and in good shape. Also newspaper ones, again especially from the Chicago Sun and The Boston Post from the early 1930's. Thanks!

I just found these paperdolls at a flea market...since I am not a collector (yet) I would love to get some information about them...
there are four little girls...they are dressed in their underwear...with mohair (real) pulled through bows on the tops of their heads to give them real hair...Three of the dolls are obviously from the same series, they have identical bases (brown with green and flowers) and their faces are quite "dolly"...their underwear is also identical. These three are also two sided...have different types and colored bows to hold the hair in, and have different colored eyes.
The fourth one...is different...she is wearing a long tee shirt with ribbons on it...the base is meant to have another piece used to stand her up, and her face has alot more detail and character...all are on very heavy stock (the different one being the heaviest....
all have different colored hair..there is a blonde, a red head, one auburn and a dark brunette...any information (or value) would be appreciated.

I am looking for hand made paper dolls in watercolor, pencil etc, either skillful or folky.
other paper toys are equally interesting. Older ones are most interesting. Also interested
in paper heads only, with assorted hairdoes or hats, rather than whole dolls[which are
OK of course]. Male figures equally interesting as are things made out of paper.
Such as buildings, scenes, objects, trains and cars.

MERRILL CLASSICS

In the Spring of 1935 the Merrill Publishing Co. launched its 31 year
career of paper doll publishing with the "Wedding Of The Paper Dolls" book.
This magnificient book was the beginning of the production of dozens of
quality books that included Babies, Children, War Themes, Weddings,
Occupations, Ballet, Ice Skating, Teens, Story Book Characters, Movies..
("Ziegfeld Girl" and two "Gone With The Wind" ) and numerous Movie Stars.

Few uncut originals of the Merrill books exist today and those that do
are valued in some cases in the hundreds of dollars. Since the Merrill paper
doll books are highly sought by collectors.....in 1989 I chose four
representative books to reprint as The Merrill Classics. These books are the
1935 "Wedding Of The Paper Dolls," "Alice Faye" and Ziegfeld Girl" from 1941
and the 1942 "Roller Rhythm." The books are approximately 80% of the
original size, the dolls are not die-cut and are sold as a set only. The
"Ziegfeld Girl" is a Gift Edition when purchasing the Merrill Classics.

A brief description of each book follows:

WEDDING OF THE PAPER DOLLS: 1935. Designed by Lucille Webster. 10 dolls
(Bride, Groom, 3 Bridesmaids, Maid Of Honor, 2 Flower Girls and Ring Bearer.)
6 pages of outfits. Book is 12 1/2" x 7 1/2". Beautiful outfits.

ALICE FAYE: 1941. Designed by Norman Mingo. 3 -8" dolls. 8 pages of outfits
from her movies. Book is 8" x 9 1/2", Fabulous costumes.

ZIEGFELD GIRL - 6 Famous Movie Stars -10 Hollywood Models: 1941. Book has 16
- 5" paper dolls including Lana Turner, Judy Garland, Hedy Lamarr, James
Stewart, Philip Dorn and Tony Martin and 6 pages of marvelous authenthic
movie costumes. Book is
12 1/2" x 8".

ROLLER RHYTHM - High School Dolls on Skates: 1942. 6 dolls that are 6 3/4".
Book is 8" x 9 1/2". 8 pages of great teen clothes of the 1940's.

The price of these books is $65.00 including postage and handling. If you
would like to see a sample of two pages of the costumes in a particular book
let me know and I will forward them to you by E-Mail.

I have a Gone With the Wind set that is uncut and wonder if you could tell me anything about it. It came from my husband's grandmother. Are there any marks or characteristics I should look for in determining its value? The Scarlett doll is about half punched out. Other wise, everything is in place, uncut. Thanks for any info you might be able to give me.
