Barker Family
This page is dedicated to my Barker family roots. We are desperately seeking information regarding this branch. Any information regarding this line would be appreciated.
Stephen (B.?) Barker according to census records was born in Kentucky around 1831-1832. He came to Texas and married his first wife, Martha Jane Parkhill in Lamar Co., Texas on January 29, 1852. He and Martha had five children together:
1. James William Barker born on February 25, 1853 in Texas. He married Martha Emeline Landers (1846-February 09, 1909). Together they had at least two children, but I suspect there are more that we haven't found yet.
a. Emma Eugenie Barker born on December 12, 1873 in Collin Co., Texas.
b. Stephen Alexander Barker born on February 04, 1877 in Farmersville, Collin Co., Texas. He married Rebecca Jane Totty (June 01, 1882-July 07, 1969). He died on February 08, 1949 in Hollis, Oklahoma.
2. John Henry Barker born on April 20, 1855 in Texas. I have not located any further information on this line.
3. Marion McClung Barker born on May 14, 1858 in Texas. He married Mary J. Hickman on December 18, 1888 in Collin Co., Texas. I have not found any children from this marriage.
4. Ritha Leach "Eliza" Barker born on July 19, 1861 in Texas. I have not found a spouse or any children.
5. Mary Francis Barker born on February 27, 1864 in Texas. I have not found a spouse or any children.
Stephen then married Mary A. Cain (widow of William Hardin Cain) and they had two children together:
1. Allen H. Barker born on March 16, 1869 in Collin Co., Texas. He married Sallie Dora Hooper (1870-1944) on August 25, 1887 in Collin Co., Texas. Together they had one child that I have been able to document. He died on May 11, 1903.
a. Allia Barker (March 15, 1896-November 20, 1902).
2. Tempie Paralee (Parlee) Barker born on May 13, 1871 in Texas. She married William Elijah Hurst on February 05, 1885 in Texas. She died October 13, 1896 in Collin County, Texas. She was only 25 years old. No one knows the cause of her death. She and William had five children together and it was thought she was pregnant with a sixth when she died.
