Well can I remember many long, long years ago when my wife,
whom I loved more than tongue can tell
and that little babe that brought sunshine and joy to our hearts -- [died.]
I loved them beyond measure,
and now I am old and tottering for the grave yet
that love deep down in my heart is as pure and true as then
and with my heart string twined around my children after I am gone,
they will say, "Papa loved us after all."
