LightRaider Net is an electronic newsletter for adventurers!  

We discuss the DragonRaid (TM) game designed by Dick Wulf
(ftp://earth.usa.net/users/dragonraid), tell stories and experiences we have
had talk about new adventure ideas. We also share what books and music and
graphics have inspired us and maybe we have used to enhance learning.  

We would like to hear from people who have played DragonRaid. Reply to this
message or send email to cass@alaska.net to let us know that you want to
continue to receive the LightRaider NET.  Feel free to forward it to anyone
you think would enjoy it!

A LightRaider is a strong and adventurous TwiceBorn who are sent out on
missions in the service of the OverLord of Many Names.  If you have never
heard of LightRaiders, here is a good source to learn about them:

Steve reports that to help the imagination of players along he will use
background music.  Sometimes it is just 'background music' but other times
it can be inspirational.  "When the characters were suppose to be riding
winged horses to a destination, it couldn't be a boring feeling. I played
"Airborne Ranger" by Mark Farner and cranked it. The youth got were grinning
and stayed fairly attentive."

You enter a room with a friendly fire burning at the other end. Comfortable
chairs form a crescent around the fireplace and then you notice the myriads
of books in the walls, stacked on tables and even suspended from the
ceiling!  How could you choose a book to read... A head shrouded with hair
the color of cirrus clouds nods to the desk in the center of the room. One
end of the desk has been cleared of all but a few books. In this sea of
literature, there is a path to the place of those few writings. Those
writings the librarian has set aside.

        "Read any book you like." says the seated figure as a wizened arm
directs your gaze to the entire room.

By now, you HAVE to at least know what those titles are set aside on that
desk...

the _Dragon_King_Trilogy_ by Stephen Lawhead -- Steve says he has always
enjoyed this set of books. "They really help set the mood for adventuring
with teens."

The Romance of Photogen and Nycteris (1882) by George MacDonald (The Day Boy
and the Night Girl) -- Charlie likes the sharp imagery of MacDonald's
fantasy and says it is available at
