Mrs. Ethel Callahan Callahan, 78, Route 2, Gladys, died Wednesday August 21, 1991, in Virginia Baptist Hospital. She was the wife of the late Joseph Carrington Callahan.
Born in Campbell County, November 19, 1912 she was the daughter of the late William Terry Callahan and the Matilda Pribble Callahan. She was a member of Swan Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, J. C. Callahan, Jr. of Lynchburg, 6 daughters, Mattie C. Neal, Libby C. Hendricks, Louise C. Hall and Eva C. Cupec all of Gladys, Emily C. Gilbert of Lynchburg and Billie C. Langford of Concord.; one brother, Allen Callahan of Evington, 4 sisters, Fannie Parker of Lynchburg, Clara Callahan of Gladys, Janie Mason of Lynch Station and Lucy Pribble of Evington; 13 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Swan Creek Baptist Church by Dr. Wayne Sterling and Rev. Mike Spence. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The body will be taken to the residence this afternoon, where the family will receive friends.
The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider the Citizens Emergency Crew, Gladys.
