Jerry Baker Viar

Jerry Baker Viar died at 7:00 a.m. today at his home in Gladys. He was the son of the late N. E. and Allie Pullan Viar and was born June 8, 1864 in Appomattox County. Surviving are his wife the former Alma Maddox Viar, five sons, Clarence and Raymond Viar of Lynchburg, Aubrey Viar of Suncook, NH, John B. Viar of Fort Lee, James Wesley Viar of Gladys; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Gallier of Lynchburg, Mrs. Curry Moore of Concord; Mrs. J. B. Vaden of Greensboro and Gracie Ann and Shirley Viar both of Gladys; three brothers, Alston and Arthur Viar of Gladys and Wesley Viar of Norfolk; six sisters, Mrs. Charles Singleton, Mrs. H. B. Shaw, Mrs. Harry Gallier. Layton Viar, all of Lynchburg, Mrs. E. J. Mitchell and Mrs. Buddy Layne of Gladys. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Christ Church, near Gladys. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
