Nelle Keys Bell Perry
GRAY - Nell Keys Bell, 88, 137 Rolling Acres, died Tuesday (March 9, 1999) at Wexford House after a lengthy illness. A native of Washington County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Amy Taylor Keys. She attended Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Mrs. Bell was a graduate of East Tennessee State in 1933. She did graduate work at the University of Tennessee and taught school for many years in Washington County Schools. She entered the U.S. Navy in World War II, serving in Hawaii, and when discharged, she was a lieutenant commander and worked at the Pentagon for several years. She was employed by Curtiss Publishing Co. for Ladies Home Journal and retired as editor of Jack and Jill Magazine. Surviving are two sisters and brother-in-law, Mrs. Glay (Evelyn) Hood, Rochester, N.Y., and Eleanor Heckroth, Tonawanda, N.Y.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Will and Lola Keys, Gray, and Charles and Mary Keys, Colonial Heights; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Scruggs officiating. Pallbearers will be Jerry Keys, Dave Keys, Anne Koehler, Tim Keys and James Keys. Pallbearers are asked to be at the funeral home by 1 p.m. today, and anyone who wants to go in procession should be at the funeral home by 1:15 p.m.
