Roger Allen Vassar, II Roger Allen Vassar, II, 19 of Route 2, Gladys, died Thursday, January 18, 1996, in Lynchburg General Hospital. Born July 29, 1976 in Lynchburg, he was the son of Margie Pugh Vassar and Roger Allen Vassar, Sr. of Gladys. He was a 1994 graduate of William Campbell High School, a student at Central Virginia Community College, an employee of Finly Corp. and a member of Kedron Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Alicia Dawb Vassar of Gladys; maternal grandparents, Grady L. and Martha Elliott Pugh of Gladys; paternal grandmother, Shirley Winston Vassar of Lynchburg; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Flossie Pugh of Concord;, three aunts, Cheryl Claybrook, her husband Mike, and children, Brian Neighbors, Brittany and Ashley Claybrook, all of Gladys, Marilyn Jenkins and her husband, Thomas, and son, Chris Jenkins, all of Christiansburg, Pam P. Hall and her husband, Jeff and daughter Krystal Hall, all of Gladys; and uncle, Grady W. Pugh, and his wife, Bonnie and children, Shannon and Kevin Pugh, all of Gladys; and his girlfriend, Karen Dalton of Gladys. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, E. Burleigh Vassar. A Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Januaray 21, 1996, in Kedron Baptist Church by the Rev. John Barrett and Robert Chapman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Finch & Finch Funeral Home Flynn Branch, from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight and at other times atthe residence of his parents. The family suggests that those wishing to make memorials consider Citizens Emergency Crew Building Fund.
