These are the Special Interest Sessions we will be attending:

Sisters of the Pallette: Victorian Arts and Accomplishments

All Ages
Equipment: Tote bag for carrying your projects home
Optional: Reproduction smock or artist's outfit

Why do we remember Daisy Low? Because she founded the Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., of course, but she was also an artist. Female sculptors and painters called themselves "Sisters of the Palette." During this session, you will learn about women artists who were Daisy's contemporaries as well as about Daisy's art. You will try your hand at several art forms of the period, including sketching, watercolors, printmaking and Daisy's favorite - sculpting. we will send you directions for a Victorian woman artist's costume if you would like to dress appropriately or for a Victorian smock to protect your clothing.

Victorian Venture

Cadette Girl Scouts only (maximum 20 participants)
Equipment: OPTIONAL "pretty" shoes to wear with a period dress

Try your hand at young ladies' school activities like using a fan, fancy writing, and scrap art boxes. Each girl will have the opportunity to dress up in costume and practice manners of the day, culminating in a tea party using pieces from our program collection. By the end of the session, you will become a young lady from the 1880s and will have a craft project to finish at home.
