Civil War Music

CWBand
16th Illinois Regimental Band

Martial music was a part of the lives of the soldiers of the "conflict." The regimental bands played often while in camp and on the move. As well, the period of the United States Civil War is filled with songs and music which were popular with both the soldiers and those at home. The following is a selection of some of the songs which caused soldiers to think of "home and loved ones" and those at home to remember them.
