South Carolina is the most "southern" and the smaller of the two Carolinas. Fiercely proud and independent, much of our country's history has been sparked by events in this state.

    Charleston, the state's major port has the stamp of history all over it. The first shot of the Civil War, the first shot of the Revolutionary war, and...more recently...the first "shots" of the gender war of the nation's military academies starting at the Citadel. Charleston is also a very beautiful and fun place to visit...just watch out for the ghosts!

    Columbia, the state's capitol is the plane Jane sister to the lovely Charleston. It's still worth checking out if you're in the neighborhood...or stuck there for a conference!
