Wheel chair bags

Fabric 14x3

2 ties 1 yd. long , to be folded to make 4 ties. fold the rectangle of fabric, determine how much hem you need. insert the folded end of ties into the side seams. Turn down hem. Topstitch. you now have a bag with 4 ties. Tie to wheelchair arm or walker. The bags can be buttoned on instead of tied. Just make strips of fabric long enough to go over arm of chair.,put buttonhole in it then button on bag. These go on the arm of the chair , not on the back. They are for the person in the chair to put necessities in.

You can insert a lining just before turning down the hem, if desired. Use bright colored fabric. We used macrame cord for the ties , but I like narrow cotton better. Press fold then turn ends into fold . press. Top stitch I posted this to a quilting email list and had several requests for instructions. This would be a good project for girl scouts, quilting or sewing groups. My quilting guild made 735 for Make a Difference Day. Another good project for groups is placemats for Meals on Wheels. We made them the yr before .
