Good to be back working with you guys! Sorry for missing last month, but work is really becoming hard and my travel schedule is tuff!!
We had 3 boys who claimed those dollars at Mountasia, and 3 new boys in the Troop! But, just because we ended that campaign, doesn’t mean we stop recruiting. The Troop and BSA need your help more than ever. We still need 4 new Scouts by December 31st to meet the goals that you, the Troop, set. Each of you have at least 5 friends. Invite just one of these to Boy Scouts. If ONLY 20% actually join, we will have met our goal and given another boy the opportunity to learn more about himself and the world around him. Nothing to it! Seriously, we all need to see if we can bring in more boys. If we can bring in 4 more boys now, and work on getting a good batch of WEBELOS we will be able to survive next summer, and even grow in the process. No adult can help here guys - only you can do this type of recruiting.
We had two great campouts, although I was disappointed about the number of Scouts who signed up but didn’t actually go. The first point of the Scout Law is “TRUSTWORTHY”. Living up to your obligations and commitments is the definition of that point. Anything less is beneath you and the Troop. If you say “YES”, then mean it!!
We have several campouts coming up (see the calander). It would be great to see all of you out there! We have to crank up to go anyway, so we might as well have everyone participate, and have even more fun!! Come on out and join the crew from 166.
When you read this, Troop elections will be already done. I just want to say thanks to Ryan, Martin, Tim, Mike, and Geoff. Each of you gave a great deal to the Troop, and we appreciate it! I’m looking forward to working with you in future positions, but your work is appreciated - THANKS!
Mr. “S”
As a reminder, each boy needs to have a signed permission slip for our activities, campouts, day-activities, etc. Parents, when you drop your son off for an activity, please be sure that you have signed a permission slip before you leave.
We have also been having a problem with a shortage of Adult Participation; especially on campouts. At the November PLC, the boys set the next campout for 12 - 14 December. They would like to go to Gray’s, but we don’t yet have the final word. The backup plan is Camp Falcon, at Ft. Carson. PLEASE think about camping with the Troop!
Our next Committee Meeting will be on Sunday, 30 November at 7 PM at Karen Brown’s house (6825 Dauntless Court). All parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. If anyone has any questions about anything, please give me a call at 548-1369. Also, parents, if you receive this newletter please give me a call. We would like to be sure that all parents are receiving our monthly newsletters. Linda Riley
If your Scout is at least 13 and at least a 1st Class Scout, he will have the opportunity to choose the “Wilderness Adventure”. The cost for this option will be slightly higher, but please have your Scout let us know if he is interested.
We hope other adults will feel welcome to help us plan more Troop activities.
