Andrew Fanning, who came in the Diligence, February 6, 1679, as servant to Daniel Stanton, is
also mentioned as of Stonington, and probably was of this family. There were at least two
families of the name in Massachusetts. The births of four children of Thomas and Elizabeth
Fanning were recorded at Watertown between 1656 and 1665; Thomas Fanning, probably the
same man, served in King Philips War; the town records show that Thomas Fanning was chosen
Tythingman in the year 1679 and his death was recorded at Watertown on August 30,
1685.Town Records, Watertown, Mass.2 William Fanning and Elizabeth Allen were married at
Newbury on March 24, 1668, and they were the parents of five children born there between
1669 and 1681.Ibid., Newbury, Mass.3 Evidently he was a mariner, and there was recorded at
Boston a power of attorney dated November 26, 1692, from William Fannen or Fanin of
Newbury to Thomas Harvey, authorizing him to collect his share on account of ye prize now in

Two David Kellys, father and son, appear in Suffolk County records. By deed dated June 18,
1657, William Beamsley conveyed to David Kelly marsh land on Hog Island;Suffolk County
Registry of Deeds, Lib. 3.18 David Kelly sold Marsh land on Hog Island to Elias Maverick on
August 17, 1662;Ibid., Lib. 4.19 David Kelly and David Kally, Jr., joined in a deed dated
November 18, 1666,Ibid., Lib. 5.20 and David Kelley conveyed lands in Boston to Thomas
Harvey on January 19, 1681.Ibid., Lib. 12.21 David, ye sonne of David Kelly and Elizabeth, his
wife, was borne ye 18 of Decr 1647, at Boston, and under date of 22nd 8 mo 1662, there is an
entry in the probate records to the effect that Power of Administration to the Estate of the Late
David Kellie is granted to Elizabeth his late (?) Wife in behalfe of herselfe and children.Suffolk

Society, Register, Vol. 12.22 By deed dated November 7, 1681, Elizabeth Smith, formerly
Kelley, the Relict of David Kelley of Boston, sold to Thomas Harvey a parcel of wharfeing
ground scituate at the north end of Boston, next adjoining to the land of her son, David Kelley,
