The Freemans are lifelong residents of the area. They were married Jan. 16, 1946. Dorothy had planned a church wedding 40 years ago when Willis returned from the South Pacific after serving in the army for four years in World War II. Health problems prevented it, but Dorothy never forgot her dream. With the help of Rev. and Mrs. Leonard Williams, Willis, Dorothy and Rev. Hartell created the rededication ceremony. Family and friends were invited. Some 98 guests helped them celebrate at Cosby [MO] Faith United Methodist Church. Dobi and Aida, daughters-in-law, served as maids of honor. Paula Renee Stovell, granddaughter, served as bridesmaid. Bestmen were Gary and Roger, sons, and Kelley Bullock, foster son, served as groomsman. Grandsons Gary Willis II served as ring bearer and Roger Blaine Jr. served as flower bearer. Valletta HARVEY Justice, niece, and John Bullock, brother, served the same duties as 40 years ago as the candlelighters. Donna HARVEY Fleenor, niece, was the reader. Marilyn Bullock Snider, niece, soloist was accompanied by Dorothy Byous Ingram. Dorothy was escorted to the altar by her brother, Forest HARVEY. Rev. Larry Hartell officiated with the assistance of Rev. Frank and Joe Bullock. Richard and Aaron [Bullock], brothers, were ushers. Marjorie Reece Wynn was in charge of the guestbook. Dorothy Turner Cowger and Lois Maughmer Gee were in charge of the tables. Dorothy wore Dobi's wedding gown and carried Aida's bouquet. Supper was served by sisters-in-law Rosella, Avis, Rovanna, Alice, Betty, and Leta and friends Virginia Rosenthal and Delores Maag. Willis and Dorothy both graduated from Savannah High School in 1938. They have lived in this area all of their lives and farmed. She taught school for 27 years and still teaches a preschool in their home. Willis is retired from MWSC [Missouri Western State College] after 15 years and is now farming full time on their dairy farm. Both are active in the Cosby Faith United Methodist Church. Out-of-state guests were Gary and family, Las Vegas, Nev.; Rev. and Mrs. Frank Bullock, Okla,; AC-2 David Slade and family, Augusta, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Mike Snider and sons; Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Mitchell, Kans." She was the daughter of the late Chester B. HARVEY and the former Pearl Waller. She was married Jan. 16, 1946, in Amazonia, to Willis Andrew Bullock, who survives of the home. She had resided in the Amazonia area until moving to Cosby in 1948. Mrs. Bullock was a 1938 graduate of Savannah High School, and graduated from Missouri Western State College with a B.S. in education. She taught in Andrew and Clinton County rural schools for five years, and taught preschool and kindergarten in her home for 28 years. She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Cosby, and president of the United Methodist Women. Other survivors are two sons, Garry W. Bullock, Las Vegas, Nev., and Roger B. Bullock, Liberty; a foster son, Kelley Bullock, Sedalia; a brother, Forest HARVEY, Amazonia; a sister, Geneva Slade, Helena [MO], and five grandchildren. Services were held April 11, at the Breit and Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alice Sutton officiating. Interment was in St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Amazonia. HARVEY died Wednesday, June 15, at LaVerna Village Nursing Home in Savannah [MO], where he had been a patient for 2 1/2 years. He was born Sept. 16, 1904. "Mr. Harvey, a native of Savannah, was a school administrator and guidance counselor for 47 years, the last 25 years at Savannah High School. His wife, Pauline, who preceded him in death in 1983, was a teacher for 33 years, the last 25 at Lindbergh School in St. Joseph. Together they taught a total of 80 years and were married May 5, 1928. "Early in his career, he taught at Amazonia High School, then at Cosby. He was superintendent at Bellevue Consolidated Schools, Mound City and Strahan Schools, Strahan, Iowa, before coming back to Savannah as a teacher in 1948. He was guidance counselor at Savannah High School for 22 years, retiring in 1973. During his long teaching career, he taught or was guidance counselor to 11,400 students. "Mr. Harvey was a member of the Savannah United Methodist Church. For 38 consecutive years, he never missed a Sunday service, regardless of where he was. He was a Sunday school teacher for many of those years. "Survivors include a daughter, Donna Hillyer, Imogene, Iowa; a son, John R. The original Harvey farm on the south edge of Savannah was deeded to the Harvey family by President James K. Polk and many of Mr. Harvey's ancestors settled in Savannah and Andrew County. "Born in Warrensburg, she had resided for the last 75 years in Savannah. "She co-owned and operated with her late husband Richard C. HARVEY, the Harvey Dairy Farm from 1930 until 1960. From 1960 until 1975, they operated Harvey's Feed and Farm Supply in Savannah. Mr. Harvey died Sept. 7, 1975. "She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Boyer. "Mrs. Harvey was a member of the First Christian Church, Savannah, was a former Sunday school teacher, and was the founder and sponsor of the EH Circle of the church. She was also active in the Sew- Mor Sewing Circle. "A 1923 graduate of Savannah High School, Mrs. Harvey had attended the Northwest Missouri State Teachers College in Maryville. "He had resided most of his life in St. Joseph, Ellisville and Winchester, Mo., and was an over the road truck driver employed with Schneider Trucking of Wisconsin. "Mr. Harvey was a graduate of Lafayette High School, Ellisville, and had attended Merimac Community College, Kirkwood, Mo. He was an army veteran. "He was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence B. Harvey, in 1957; his maternal grandparents, Charles Elliott in 1951, and Sylvia Elliott in 1977; and his paternal grandmother, Anna Irene Harvey in 1980. She was married to William T. Rogers, January, 1890. They established a home in Amazonia soon after their marriage. They operated a dry goods and grocery store, which also housed the post office. Mrs. Rogers was Amazonia's postmistress for many years. "She was active in the Methodist Church, teaching classes and acting as treasurer. best known in the community as "Aunt Mandy," she had a way of offering herself where there was sickness, leaving behind a gift of food or money. "Her life was shortened by cancer and she died at the age of 64 years. She was greatly missed by all who knew her. "Her father, G.W. Harvey, operated the mill in Amazonia. That mill was located near the Schweizer Apple Storage Building in Amazonia. G.W. Harvey was very prominent in the Masonic Lodge in Andrew County. "Submitted by Sarah Miner." Harvey Families" "Andrew Harvey, with his wife Mary (Noble) Harvey, came to Andrew County in the spring of 1841 from Breathitt County, Lost Creek, Kentucky. Their four children came with them. The youngest child was three weeks old. They settled on a farm four miles southwest of Savannah, Missouri, in Lincoln Township. Later, he gave a plot of ground for the Washington School. After they moved to Missouri, four more children were born. The second child, the oldest son, was George Washington Harvey. In 1862, he married Sarah Moser, a neighbor girl. They settled two miles southeast of his parents' home where they built a beautiful brick house. "George Washington Harvey was a progressive leader in the community. He was one of the founders of the Masonic Lodge in Savannah. He was a partner in the Amazonia flour mill with his brother- in-law, Peter Moser. The G.W. Harveys became the parents of ten children. He employed teachers to come into his home during the winter months to tutor his children for additional education. "The G.W. Harvey children were" Amanda, married William Rogers (no children); Peter, married Maggie Mace (one daughter, Blanche). Maggie deceased; second wife was Leota Barnum (one daughter, Vera); Elizabeth died young; Anna married James Miner (children; an infant son, Rachel, Sarah, Everett died in infancy); Lorren Thomas married Minnie Zimmerman (two children: Dale Z. and Beatrice); George died in early childhood; Mary married Jesse Crowley (one daughter Lucile); Jessie died young; Emmett married Drucilla Angsten (children: Raymond, Weldon, Catherine); Chester married Pearl Waller (children: Forest, Geneva, Dorothy). "One of the sons of George Washington Harvey was L.T. Harvey. He was active in public affairs, a farmer, banker, and in later years, owned and managed the first Studebaker Car Agency in St. Joseph. His son, Dale, was a farmer and businessman in Blythedale, Missouri for many years. Dale married Emma Miller. Their children are: Thomas, Dorothy, Beverly and Dean. Thomas is currently Superintendent of the North Andrew R-6 School System. He married Elizabeth Webb of Bethany. To this union was born three children: Thomas Webb, Nancy and Mary. "The James Miner's daughter Rachel married Roy Schenk, an Amazonia businessman. Their children were: Verna Jean and Glenys. Sarah has been very helpful to many people in a nursing capacity. The youngest son of the G.W. Harveys was Chester. He was a farmer, active in community, had an Amazonia car agency, and was superintendent of the Sunday school at the Methodist Church for forty- five years. His son, Forest, married Anna Bauman. Their children are: Gene, Valletta, and Donna Mae. Forest owned and operated a garage-service station in Amazonia which was a community asset. Geneva married Preston Slade of Helena. They had two sons: John Harvey and David. She taught in rural Andrew County and in an Iowa High School. Dorothy married Willis Bullock of Amazonia. Their two sons are Gary and roger. Dorothy taught school in Andrew County and now has a pre-school in her home near Cosby, Missouri.
