Rouses Celebrate Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary
David Williams Rouse and his wife Winifred Pierce Rouse of Route 2, Rose Hill, celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary on November 30, 1991. They restated their wedding vows at Charity United Methodist Church, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall given by their children.
They were married on December 6, 1941, in Conway, S.C. Winifred is the daughter of the late Roscoe and Plina Sandlin Pierce of Beulaville; David's parents were Joseph and Annie Johnson Rouse of Rose Hill. David and Winifred have three children, Patricia, Treva, and David, Jr.; they also raised David's younger brother, Hugh, who is like a son.
Patricia, and her husband, John McGarty, life in Annapolis, Maryland; they have two children, Kyle and Dana. Treva is married to Wallace native, Gene Simmons; they live in Raleigh and have two children, Patrick and Celeste. David, Jr. and his wife, Helen, live in Willard; David has a son, David W. Rouse III. Hugh and his wife, Stella, live near Rose Hill and have two sons, Stuart and Eric.
The anniversary celebration began on Friday, November 29, at the home of Gene and Treva Simmons. They honored their parents with a family dinner at their Raleigh home. Among the family guests were June Quinn Price and her husband, Murriel, from Burke, Virginia, and Huston Pierce, from Baltimore, Maryland. Mrs. Price is Mrs. Rouse's cousin and Mr. Pierce is Mrs. Rouse's brother.
On Saturday, family and friends joined the anniversary couple at their church, Charity United Methodist, for the restating of wedding vows and a reception at 3:00. The Reverend Robert Ray officiated and the pianist was Herschel Pierce of Beulaville, Mrs. Rouse's brother.
During the ceremony, the children and grandchildren participated by standing with the couple.
At the reception, Helen Rouse, wife of Chester Rouse, David's brother, cut the cake and Stella Rouse served the punch. Helen F. Rouse, wife of David Rouse, Jr., and Michelle Atkinson helped replenish the table.
Following the reception, the couple and family enjoyed a buffet dinner at the home of Chester and Helen Rouse. Hugh and Stella Rouse were co-hosts for this lovely affair.
