981227/0810: Ten days since my last entry. So, I guess it's time for a little catch-up.
President Clinton has been impeached by the HoR. That's a start, but there is still a long way to go before he can be booted from office. I urge you to contact your senators and ask them to continue with the impeachment process.
We federal employees got 4 hours off on December 23rd by presidential decree. Your tax dollars at work for you! It was nice to have the time off, though. Got caught up on some last minute pre-Christmas stuff. We (the family and I) were at one of the local grocery stores doing a little Christmas dinner shopping, and when we came out to our car, there was a note on the windshield from a friend at work wishing us a Merry Christmas from her and her daughter. They had been at the same store, noticed the car, and took time to write the note. It really brightened my family's day. It's nice when someone takes the time to let you know that they are thinking of you. We're thinking of you, too, J & J. Thanks for your efforts.
I really thought that this Christmas was going to be materially sucky, especially for the kids. But, it wasn't. When they woke up on Friday morning, their eyes really beamed, and they were all excited. Money was tight, and material things (I thought) were slim, but the kids felt like they had been showered with gifts from heaven. They (according to them) got every thing that they wanted. That, of course, in turn, my this Christmas for me one of the best I have ever had. I love being able to make my children happy.
My son (who will be 13 on January 3rd. A teenager, already. Where DOES the time go?) is taking some sort of consumer-family class in school. When I was in school, we called it home economics. Anyway, one of the things he learned to do was some basic machine sewing. So, for Christmas, he made his mom a 4 foot body pillow. It looks professionally done, too! When I first saw it, I thought he had somehow managed to buy it from a store. But he told me that it was one that he made in school, and then I remembered buying the material for him. Now, this might not sound like a big deal to you, but remember that this was this 12-year-old's FIRST sewing project, and it looks like a store-bought pillow. I'm really impressed. Who knows, maybe he will be a famous taylor, some day. BTW, he has an email address, in case anyone want's to write him. It's a JUNO address, so no binaries, please. It's bronze-c@juno.com. He doesn't get much mail, but when he does, he loves to read it and reply. His 8-year-old (turns 9 on January 18) sister has an email address, too. It's jessica-c1@juno.com. I read their mail with them.
I took down the All_I_want_for_Xmas mailing list at ONEList.com until next year. It didn't do as well as I liked, but maybe it will do better each year. It's just kind of a fun thing, anyway.
981217/0747: The Commander-in-Cheat ordered the bombing of Iraq, yesterday. I'm quite certain that this action will put him in good favor with the nation.
Well, Christmas approaches fast. The kids have made their lists, and all seems to be going pretty well. Christmas will be a little slimmer this year than last, but that's the way of things. They both what laser pointers (remember that they are 8 and 12). I thought that this was kind of silly, but not necessarily out of the question. Then, I found one at a local target store, and bought it. It was cheap enough, and I thought that it might be a little out of the ordinary, novel, a conversation piece. That is, until, I discovered that the little red light that it produces drives the cat absolutely crazy! I have sooooooo much fun with that thing, and it really tires the cat out. Its terribly fun to run the beam around and around, causing her to go in litlle circles. Ever see a cat get dizzy? Hehehehe! Well worth the small price ($10). I can just imagine what would happen if there were 3 laser pointers in the house!
981212/2234: You may notice that there are often gaps between entry dates spanning several days. That's because there are days that I just don't want to write. And, there are days that I feel compelled to write so I can look back at this journal years from now and see what kind of person I was. Then, there are the days that I write because truly interesting events happen in my life. Today is one of those days that I don't want to ever forget. The following is NOT boasting, bragging, or tooting my own horn. It is just an episode in my life that I want to share, and look back on in later years. . .
Today, I saved a baby's life. I started the day by working some overtime. I had left work for the day, picked up the family to run some errands, and went to the credit union service center to deposit a check. While my wife was in the CUSC, I was outside in the car, with our kids, cruising for a parking space. I finally found one, and parked. I was waiting in the car, and suddenly got the urge to get out to just stretch my legs and walk around. The kids got out with me, and we were just sauntering around the parking lot. I noticed that a woman had gotten her baby, a little over a year old, out of her van. The child was walking, but stayed close to mom. I walked past them, paying no more attention to them than anything else. I walked a couple of more car widths, and turned around to check on my two. I saw the woman's baby walking across the drive are of the parking lot, and in front of a truck that was sitting in the drive area, the driver apparently looking in a store front window, or perhaps waiting for a parking spot to clear. The baby walked to about the center of the hood of the truck, and the driver decided that he was going to move on. The only thing I could think was that the baby was going to go under the truck. Before I realized it, I was in front of the truck with one hand on the hood, and the other reaching down to grab the baby from under the front of the truck. The child had been hit by the truck, knocked down, and his head was just in front of the right-front tire of the truck. Another inch or so, and it would have been all over for the little one. I heard a woman (his mother) scream, and the baby appeared in my arms. The driver had stopped, and was getting out of his truck. He said that he never saw the child, and I can understand how he didn't. Mom retrieved the baby from my arms, checked him over, and pronounced that he appeared to be okay. My kids and I went into the CUSC, and we retrieved my wife, telling her that I can make the deposit Monday. We left. On the way out of the CUSC, I noticed that the driver of the truck was standing at the back of the line, with a somewhat dazed and disbelieving look on his face.
I truly believe that everything that happens in our lives happens for a reason, and that no matter how awful we might believe the moment to be, we are all where we are supposed to be, when we are supposed to be there. Episodes such as the one that happened today tends to bolster my belief.
We have been in Colorado for 2 years, and that is the 2nd time since we have been here that I have been in a position to make a real life-or-death difference in someone else's life. Hope it doesn't become a habit.
981207/1833: Had to take the kids to the doctor. Daughter has strep-throat, and son may be getting it. The doctor prescribed medicine for both of them. She has to stay out of school one more day. He will be able to go. He has a field trip, tomorrow. His class is going to the IMAX to see the Elephants of Africa. That should be pretty exciting. He seems to be doing better in school, now. I hope the trend continues.
A GREAT episode of Star Trek TOS "Empath". I remember watching that episode when I was a child, be being fascinated by it. Such an emotional episode.
981206/2029: We have been here 2 years, today. Yea, rah. Sure as hell hope we won't be here another 2 years.
We went to the "Parade of Lights" last night. It was wonderful. I have only been close to a parade 1 other time in my life, and that was when I was working communications for the Indianapolis 500 parade. So, last night was pretty special. The whole family loved it! The weather was pretty good (only light snow), and we rode a light-rail down from a park-n-ride to the end of the parade route. I tell you, those people who are in the parade, especially the marching bands, have to be pretty dedicated. Anyway, the night was a pretty good one.
981204/1207: I am SOOOOOO sorry that I haven't written for a few days. I store my files and HTML writer on a 3.5 floppy, and I had misplaced it, finding it only yesterday. So, my apologies to anyone who might actually be reading this stuff (I do notice the counter creeping up).
Well, let's see, we are now in the last month of 1998. Just a few more shopping days 'til Christmas. We ordered my brother and his family an item out of a "Dancing Dragons" catalog. They have beautiful stuff, all dragon related. You can visit their website by clicking here. In case your wondering, NO, I am not affiliated with their shop. I just think they have wonderful stuff.
It looks like my main page finally got placed into the Colorado Web Ring. Joy!
Some friends of ours (remember the shaving entry?) have invited us to go with them to the annual Parade of Lights in downtown Denver. We are going to go Saturday. According to a morning news report, the attendance tonight and tomorrow is expected to reach 350,000. We don't like crowds, but it should be worth going to.
981129/1231: I just got an email from the keeper of the Open Pages web ring saying that this site has been inserted into the ring. Joy! So, I decided to place a counter on here to see how much traffic I get.
981128/2037: I have decided to use local time for the entries.
I am still waiting for the keeper of the open pages web ring to get back with me to let me know if this page will be put on the ring. I guess the holidays tend to slow people down as far as replying goes.
Worked 8 hours overtime today. I don't like working the OT, but right now (Christmas season), we could used the extra money. But, don't forget, it's your tax dollars at work (hah!).
I think I am going to drop the All_I_Want_for_Xmas list. It doesn't have very many subscribers, and virtually no traffic. The smoothies list is going very well, though, so I will keep it for a while.
981127/1052: Someone suggested that I start putting the times of my writings on the entries. Okay. The question that I have is should I use UTC (Universal Coordinated Time, Greenwich Mean Time), or local time (Mountain Time). Since I haven't decided, yet, this entry will use local time.
I got up early this morning and made it to my local Target at about 0710. The parking lot was packed full, and even though the doors had been open for at least 10 minutes, there was a line of people that stretched around the short corner of the building. I got in line, and it only took about 2 minutes to get into the store.
When I walked into the store, there were employees at the door handing out Hot Wheels cars to the adults that entered the store. I found out that if you were one of the first 1000 people to enter the store, you were given a chance to win prizes. There were game pieces on the car packages. I didn't win a prize, but I got a free Hot Wheel. While I was wandering around in the electronics department, I found another one, still in the package with the game piece pulled. Someone had discarded it, so I picked it up. That made me happy, because I now have one for each of the kids.
Well, I made my purchase, and was out of the store in about 1/2 hour. As I was leaving, I noticed that there was no one giving out the cars, which means that in less than 1 hour, over 1000 people entered that store! Well, at least the traffic on the roads was light.
Ron and I went to our storage unit and brought back some of the Christmas decorations. I went with him to look at a metal storage shed that he was wanting to buy. The shed is a 10X8, and seems to be ruggedly constructed. Unfortunately, the store was out of them, and had only the display left. So, he is going to wait for a few weeks until the store gets more in.
The kids are going skating at a local rink today at about noon. They are taking their rollerblades. This should be interesting. They have never skated in a rink with blades, before.
1628: We just got back from the skating rink. The kids did pretty well on their blades. Son fell only once. Daughter didn't fall at all, but she's not quite as adventurous he is.
While they were skating, I was working on a friends web page with him. We got it uploaded and did some tweaking. After that was done, he and his wife wanted me to shave them, so I did. Took me almost an hour to do them both, but it came out well. He might be sending his before and after pix to the list.
981126: Happy Thanksgiving, all.
981125: Only one month 'til Christmas. The time passes so quickly. Come December 6, we will have been here 2 years. What a waste of time.
We were let go 2 hours early. That was a pleasant surprise. There wasn't much work being done, anyway.
One of our friends is leaving for Indiana for the holidays, today. She should be there tomorrow afternoon. We are baby-sitting her cat while she is gone.
The smoothie list is getting quite a bit of good picture traffic, now. If you haven't signed up, you should consider it.
My wife has been cooking for a couple of days, preparing for Thanksgiving. She is going to start the turkey tonight about midnight. She made her first-ever pumpkin pie, and it takes better than any I have ever tasted. She's pretty proud of it. I am, too.
981124: Recall that on 981121, I told you about the printer being down? Well, it was fixed yesterday, and we were printing just fine. Today, however, the printer wouldn't work. I called the communication experts to advise them of the problem (it was systemic, not mechanical). I was told that end-of-month programs were being run, and that we couldn't get any prints until after those progs were finished. I bought that.
So, all day long, we are unable to get prints. At about 1645, I decided to call back to see if the progs were still being run. They were, but the tech said that it shouldn't affect our print orders. We ran a few test prints, and all checked okay, except that the prints were coming out. There was no data stream to the printer. I went to reset the printer. Guess what I found? Yep! The data cable to the printer was just barely hanging into the comm port. So, I screwed the B-N-C connector back on to the end of the cable, connected it to the comm port, and out the data stream light starts going crazy!
If I had gotten the right answer from the first 'expert' this morning, we could have been printing all day. Ya just can't trust anybody!
981123: I signed my webpage up for a few web rings. One is the Shavers Web Ring, the Circle of the Wolf Ring, and the Colorado Web Ring. I am waiting to get the site approval and ring code so I can add it to my main page. So, look for them at the bottom of the main page in the near future.
981121: Worked overtime, today. The wife is still not able to work, so I get a little overtime when I get the chance. Unfortunately, our mainframe printer is down, and awaiting repair. As part of duties that I take upon myself aside from my job, I try to maintain the computers and related equipment in the shop. But, the printer is beyond my talents and equipment. So, we are having to do work that doesn't require the use of the printer.
On a lighter note, I took my car to the Penske Auto Center at the K Mart located on the southwest corner of Chambers and Colfax for an oil change and lube. The car doesn't have but 2 grease nipples, and those are on the outer tie-rod ends. They have grease nipples because I have had to replace both of them. So, I asked the manager to ensure that they were hit with grease. He told me that there would be no problem, and that it would be ready in about an hour.
I went in K Mart, had a plate of cheese fries, and then headed back out to the service bay. The 'mechanic' was putting the fresh oil in the car, so I waited and watched. He hoisted the lift, and grabbed the grease gun. I mentioned to him that the only nipples were on the outer tie-rod ends. So, he promptly took the grease nozzle, and attempted to pump grease into the brake-bleeder valve.
I was impressed.
I told him to get a flashlight, and I used it to point out the tie-rod ends. He looked at me, and said, "Thanks. I've only been here for a couple of days."
After he was done, I pulled away from the service area, stopped the car, and checked the oil. At least, he knew where the oil filler port was . . .
981120: Well, it finally happened. The inevitable for those living in Colorado. After nearly 2 years of being here, being careful, watchful, I got a rock ding in my windshield. I was going to work after dropping my son of at school, and a little pebble came out of nowhere, and CRACK, there it was! A small dimple in the outer shell of the windshield. I was really dreading that. So, now we have to save the money up to replace the windshield, which will undoubtedly have to be done, as I am sure the 'little' pit won't stay little, long. Of course, I am lucky that it didn't penetrate the windshield completely.
981118: Had most of the day off, today. I had to take my wife to see the doctor. He says that it looks like she's healing up somewhat. He told her she needs to start getting out and doing things that could cause some pain, if for nothing else to know that the next day, it should feel better. It will also help strengthen her in her weak areas. So, that's pretty good news.
Did I tell you that my daughter 'won' an anole from school? We have had these things before, and they are pretty low maintenance creatures. Anyway, she put this critter in a terrarium that we had here, and put several live crickets in for food. Unfortunately, she put a few TOO many in, I guess, because they ate one of the anole's feet off. I know that their tales will grow back. I wonder if their feet will . . . (we took all but 2 of the crickets out).
981116: The kids started back to school, today, after a 3 week break. They are on a year-round school schedule. We thought that we would like this type of schedule, and had always wanted to try it, but we found out that it is really inconvenient. So, if you have a choice, you might want to think it out REAL well before switching to year-round.
Our friends back home got their keys to their newly purchased house this past Saturday. We are SO happy for them. They really deserve a nice home. I will be old and gray before we are able to get a house. But, then again, maybe we really don't want one bad enough . . .
981115: The Colorado_smoothie list is picking up some traffic (finally). It will only work if people post. Thanks to those who have contributed. If you are reading this, and would like to check the list out, please go back to my main page, scroll down until you find the ONEList icon for the Colorado_smoothie list, and click on it. If you decide you don't like the list, you can always unsubcribe from it.
981114: We and our friend went to the dealer to see what could be done about buying the car. They test drove the car, and looked pretty good for them. There was some wheelin'-'n'-dealin', but in the end, it was a no sale. The salesman got kind of grumpy at the loss, which is probably natural. But, you can't win them all!
On the way back from the dealership, we stopped by a little pagan(?) bookstore called Cornerstone Books. The family and I have been there, before, and it is an enjoyable store. No pressure; browse all you want. While we were there, my wife saw a small table-top fountain that she liked. It is a fountain with a couple of frogs on it. Now, my wife LOVES frogs. She has nearly 200 of them in various forms around the house. So, she was commenting on how much she liked the fountain. Our friend said she liked it too, and asked if my wife was going to buy it? She said no. So, our friend picked it up and took it to the counter. She bought it, and we went out to the car. As we were getting in, she handed the fountain to my wife and said, "You know I don't like frogs." While totally unnecessary, it is nice and greatly appreciated when friends do those kinds of things.
We are wanting to join a nudist group while we are here. We are probably going to join the Rocky Mountain Bares, a non-landed group based in Arvada. We are waiting for their mail. We were invited to come to their gathering this evening, at a local health club, but it was too late in the day for us to get ourselves together to go. It would have been nice, though. We miss interaction with other nudists.
981113: We went to look at a 1988 Toyota (convertible, white w/black top) for a friend who is considering buying it. It is a pretty sharp-looking car. It has about 50k miles on it. It's clean (of course, it's on a dealer lot. Broadway Jeep/Eagle, to be exact). The salesman, B.J. Thomas, couldn't get it started. Seems that there is some ignition security system that the salesman wasn't familiar with on the car. The sticker says $11995.00. Kind of a little too much. When we got back home, we called the friend, told them what we thought of the car. It is listed in the paper for $6995.00. Now, you would think that if they could advertise the car for that price, that there would be no reason for the sticker to be almost twice that, wouldn't you? Can you say, "Typical car dealer?" I know this, if I buy a vehicle, it will most likely be from Indiana!
981110: As you may have noticed, I have made a few additions to my main page. I stumbled across the weather banners, and thought they were pretty cool and informative. In case you are wondering why I have 3 of them, I work in Denver, live in Aurora, and my home is in Indianapolis.
Also, I hope you noticed the ONEList icon further down the page. ONEList is a wonderful place to find or start a mailing list. Go take a look. If they don't have a list that you would like to sign up to, start one of your own! And, of course, I invite anyone who is so inclined to sign up to my first mailing list from my main page. Oh, yeah, be sure to sign my guest book, too!
Many of us got to go home early, yesterday. I think that there was a fear of a ferocious storm abrewin''. But, best that I can tell, it didn't happen. Nonetheless, I was happy to get out of here, early.
(Later in the day)
In case you missed it on the front page, I started a mail list for people to tell the world what they want for Christmas. Check it out when you go back to the main page.
981107: We had a really nice snowfall overnight. It left about 1.5 inches where I live, but the temperature is such that it is only sticking to things such as trees and grass. The sidewalks are pretty clear. According to the radio news, it should all melt off by this afternoon. Keep in mind, though, that Colorado meteorologists don't have a real good track record for predicting weather.
981105: Well, Colorado now has a Republican Governor, the first in over 20 years. So, there's hope for Colorado! All-in-all, the election went well. We still don't have tax credits for private schools, which is a bummer. The public schools systems here REALLY need some competition because they are miserably failing. There will now be a law requiring that parents be notified before their minor daughter(s) have abortions. However, the partial-birth abortion ban was defeated. Part of my tax dollars are going to be used to finance a stupid-ass football arena. But, the state isn't going to be allowed to steal any of the tax surplus that they get each year. It will have to be returned to the people. And, Ventura is Governor of Minnesota! Imagine that!
981102: Well, the starter went "belly-up". I received some dried starter that was allegedly born in 1874 that I am going to try to get going. I will try to keep some info on that here, as well, although I haven't been doing such a great job of writing. Sorry.
DON'T FORGET TO VOTE!!
981014: The starter is doubled, and is very frothy on top. I understand that this is indicates a good starter. This evening, I will have to remove and discard all but 6 oz, then feed with 3 oz of regular white flour and 3 oz of distilled water. I will do this daily for about 2 weeks. At the end of that time, it should be ready to use in a little baking.
981013: Noticed a few bubbles at the top of the starter. Added another cup of the same flour, and another cup of distilled water.
It's back to work. That's one of the problems of a 3-day weekend . . . having to return to work.
981012: A Federal holiday. Happy Columbus Day!
I went to a friends house to help with a computer problem. I was able to fix her mouses. I also loaded Norton AntiVirus on her first machine. Unfortunately, the process managed to wipe her entire harddrive. Now, normally, this would be a disaster, but as it turns out, she wanted it wiped and reloaded, anyway. Fate is a quirky thing. The only problem left is that her USR 28800 internal modem is now not working. I'm not exactly sure why, but I am trying to find solutions.
I started some sourdough starter today. I mixed 8 oz of Earth Harvest Whole Grain Wheat (Organically Grown) with 8 oz of distilled water. It sits in a glass jar, hopefully growing.
981007: Our washing machine malfunctioned, and filled the house with smoke. The fire department was summoned, and managed to unplug the machine, which stopped the smoking. No damage to anything else, and fortunately, the washing machine is under warranty. Montgomery Ward's repair service will be out tomorrow to evaluate/fix/replace the machine.
981002: Well, the wife had a D&C today. I couldn't be present in the operating room, but the doctor was kind enough to video some of the procedure.
980914: The Triops are about an inch long, now. There were originally 6. I am down to 4, now, and I might have killed another one when I was cleaning the tank. I accidentally hit one with a spoon when I was fishing out some floating debris. I will see if it is still alive in the morning.
My brother had some heart surgery, today. Seems that he had a valve in his heart that was creating additional electrical current that made his heart race often. The surgeons entered through blood vessels in his groin and arms to burn away the valve. He came out of surgery with a high fever, but his is normal, right now. He will spend the night in the hospital, and hopefully be home sometime tomorrow.
I heard that there were 2 more murders in our quaint little town of Aurora, last night. That makes 11 murders in 8 days. Now, keep in mind that this is a town where the police will hassle you if you are carrying your handgun on your hip even though it's perfectly legal, but they can't protect the citizenry. Hell, in the People's Republic of Denver, you can't even carry your gun. The furer, Wellington Webb, and his cabinet have made it illegal to carry a gun in Denver. They are trying to dispel the image of the wild west that most of the US has when they think of Denver. I guess they want you to think more of Poland, or Russia, or W.W.II Germany. So, y'all move on over to this part of the country. There's plenty of room, and the citizen turn-over rate is getting higher . . .
980913: We went to "Homestead City", a representation of what life was like in Aurora 100 years ago. It was a wonderful visit to the distant past. Before entering the town, we had to exchange our current money for 1898 money at a rate of .10 on the dollar. Kind of put things in economic perspective.
The City is an annual event, running for 5 days in September. Yesterday was the last day for this year.
I encountered my first problem with the long distance service, 10-10-811. I made 2 phone calls, and the connections were bad. Quite a bit of popping and noise on the line. I will try them again, later in the week to see if the problems still persist.
980908: The day after Labor Day. It was a fairly nice weekend. We stayed home for the most part. The roads get kind of dangerous on holidays such as Labor Day and Memorial Day. We all still wish that we had been spending the holiday back in Indiana. Colorado REALLY sucks.
Anyway, yesterday was the last day that the pool is open for the year. The bummer is that it is still going to be hot for several weeks. I am home, today, because my lower back is aching. I think I got a little overworked in the pool, yesterday.
We are trying a new long distance service. 10-10-811. It touts 10 cents a minute long distance, 24/7, without a monthly fee. The only catch is that your calls have to be at least 3 minutes long. That shouldn't be a problem around here.
980901: The first day of September. The family started walking after dinner today. We try to do 30 minutes. The doctor said that our son should do this on a regular basis (builds stamina, and helps maintain the proper weight), but said that the whole family could benefit from the daily walks. We will see how far this goes. Actually, it was pretty refreshing, but as with all things, the 'new' will eventually wear off.
We started some stupid-ass 10-digit dialing requirement. Now, in the Denver-Metro area, if you want to dial a local call, you have to dial the area code first. US West claims that this it because they are running out of telephone numbers for this area. Later in the year, they are placing a new, additional area code in the city. If al all possible, AVOID dealing with US West.
The Triops are about 1/2 inch long, now. They are growing very rapidly. Their life span is about 90 days, but you can let the container dry out completely, then add water, and in a few days, more will grow. Kind of a fascinating way of insuring species continuance, eh?
980826: A coworker in to office I work in started a colony of triops. This is what one looks like full grown -->
They are actually a small animal that managed to survive from prehistoric times. They are a water creature. If you want to know more about them, I suggest you do a websearch for TRIOPS. They are pretty interesting.
980825: Four months 'til Christmas!
980824: Our little 1988 1/2 Ford Escort Pony (which we bought brand new) just turned over 100,000 miles! It's been a great, reliable little car. I hope it makes it another 100,000 miles . . .
980809: Well, as you can see, it has been well over a year since I have updated this section. I truly apologize to anyone who might have been trying to keep up.
Now, for some catch-up . . .
One of the biggest events of the past year occurred on August 16, 1997. My wife and two children were driving in Aurora, Colorado. Some young fool ran a stop sign, and crashed into my wife's van. It destroyed the van, and put my wife and daughter in the hospital overnight. I wasn't with them, and only my son (11 at that time) was left to try to contact me.
My wife is still recovering from her injuries. She suffered some back and sacro-iliac injuries, and hasn't been able to work, since. Hopefully, she will recover completely, soon.
My son got bit through the arm on August 14, 1998. It was a smaller dog that we were watching for a friend, but the bite pierced both sides of his arm. He's now has an understandable fear of dogs.
On a lighter note, I got a tattoo on June 10th, 1998. It is an outline of a wolf's head as he is howling at the moon. It is my first tattoo. I will try to get a pic scanned an put on here, for those who might be interested. I'm not so sure that it will be my last. While it wasn't an entirely pleasant experience, it wasn't so bad that I wouldn't do it, again.
I won a battle against my federal employer about being allowed to display what is commonly known as a 'rebel flag' at my desk. They said I couldn't have it there. The changed their opinion.
We moved in March '98. We now live in a 3 bedroom condo that we are renting. It's so nice to have a little extra room.
I have learned how to make a fire with flint and steel. Could be a useful skill, especially out here.
