Columbus has a vibrant Jewish community. Click here for The Columbus Jewish Federation.
For adult Jewish learning, email the Columbus Community Kollel. For K through 12, visit the The Columbus Torah Academy.
For Judaism at the Ohio State University, visit Usenet newsgroup: osu.jewish (only works from OSU computers), The Ohio State University Hillel, Schottenstein Chabad House, Melton Center for Jewish Studies, or Hebrew and Jewish Studies Library on the web.
For Jewish print media in columbus, contact The Ohio Jewish Chronicle - P.O. Box 30965, Columbus, OH 43230 (mailing address), 2862 Johnstown Road, Columbus, OH 43219 (Office), (614)337-2055 (voice), (614)337-2059 (fax)
For Kosher eats in Columbus, stop by the Bexley Kosher Market - 3012 E. Broad St., 231-3653, including a butcher, deli counter, and kosher groceries. If you need Kosher prepared foods for Shabbos, may I suggest that you call Chani Capland of the Torah Center. She runs a catering service at 2942 E. Broad Street (614-235-8070) and if you stop by on Friday afternoons, you can get a complete Shabbos meal from her. Of course it is safer to call ahead to make sure about specific availability. Also check out Empire Kosher (including a form to get free coupons in the mail)
For kosher dairy in Columbus, check out Block's kosher bagel and pizza shoppe, located inside the Town and Country Kroger at 3675 E. Broad Street. Their phone number is 237-0076. Also check out Sammy's Bagels at the corner of James Road and Broad Street (their only kosher location in Columbus).
There is a kosher restaurant inside the OSU Hillel. They have both a dairy and a meat kitchen, but they do not sell dairy and meat at the same time. For exact hours and to find out which hours are meat and which hours are dairy, phone 294-4797.
For kosher baked goods, check out Block's Bagels' 2 locations at 3415 East Broad Street (235-2551) and at 6115 McNaughten Center (863-0470). Please note that only baked goods (and not the deli) are kosher only at the two locations mentioned here.. Kosher Buckeye (235-8070) also offers kosher baked goods, on an order-ahead basis only.
For kosher sweets in the Nationwide Arena district, I suggest A Blessed Cookie Company, which is at Three Nationwide Plaza. Their phone number is 614-221-4442, and they are also supervised by Rabbi David Stavsky.
Cup O' Joe's Coffe Shop serves Stauf's coffee which is kosher certified by Rabbi David Stavsky. Besides the fact that their coffee is certified kosher, they are locally owned and operated, and they offer great service and even games to play while drinking your coffee. Please do not allow Starbucks to put them out of business. They are located at the corner of East Main and South Cassidy in Bexley.
Please note that except for those establishments mentioned above as being under the supervision of Rabbi Stavsky, to my best knowledge all establishments mentioned in this page are under the supervision of the Columbus Va'ad Ho-ir as of September 9, 2002. For more current information, please check with a rabbinic authority, or contact Rabbi William Goldberg, chief kashruth administrator for the Columbus Va'ad Ho'ir.
