Right Turn or Left Turn
We used to attend a small church in Buena Park, CA. Our minister, Bro. Zoellers, every now and then would add into his sermon a comment about which direction you left church in. He would say that if you think about it most every time you leave church you turn the same way either right or left. God gives us the choices in our lives and there will be days when some of us will leave this church, and choose to go the other way. Maybe for an ice cream or lunch out or to go across the freeway to Disneyland. Most of the time that choice will be uneventful and go as planed but some day you may make that turn and never get back to Church. Someone else will make a different choice in their lives, possibly driving drunk, or sick or not paying attention and the not planned for of will occur. Of course the question there was and is "Are you ready"? You may not get even a second to get right with God before your time is up with your reactions or efforts to avoid what ever is going on.
I bring this up as just last week a friend I had worked with some years ago and his family ( http://www.crumc.org/templates/cuscusterroad/details.asp?id=33399&PID=587636&Style= ) made a turn out of church and all were lost to us in an instant. A driver speeding down a street came through the intersection they were in and in that instant they were either gone or died shortly after in the hospital.
A few years back my son and I came up on an accident that had just happened. A lady had swerved and slide into a tree without wearing a seat belt. We ran over to car and when I felt for a pulse there was none. The rescue squad arrived at that point and could do nothing.
Two gospel musicians just last week were leaving their studio when two thugs came up to them and shot them ----- to get bus money.
Our dear niece went to bed last week and did not wake up. She was 47 and her husband had woke up on the day that they were to bury his mother who had lost her battle with cancer and found his wife beside him.
We all can think of friends, or folks we've seen on the news or heard about that are suddenly taken from us without warning. We pray for their souls and while we can feel confident about some have great hope and prayer for others that God had a personal relationship with them. This is not some hell fire and damnation article just a simple question that you have to think about. If something sudden happens where you don't have time (you can't always get around to it next week), are you ready? Do you have a one on one relationship with God through Jesus Christ? When you come before our Lord the comment that God you know my heart you know I was coming forward next week will not work. Think this through now and be absolutely sure that whenever that glorious moment of entering into His presence comes Jesus will say the He knows you and God will say welcome home.
By all means, don't hold back from taking that different turn as that is what life is all about. Go get that ice cream, or lunch, or take a trip somewhere on a whim. Never be afraid to live your dream out of fear or caution, just be sure the biggest decision of your life has been made right and go forward knowing all is covered and right.
