 | Yes, we finally did make it back to Missouri for the fourth of July celebration. Well, at least we were ready to participate in the big shindig. The weather was not. It rained us out and we had to postpone until the fifth. July 5 dawned bright, clear and hotter than you know where. The men, or more specifically, my dad and my husband, set about the "manly" task of grilling the meat. |
After stuffing our faces, we set about the arduous task of playing as many hands of cards as we could fit into the rest of the day. It isn't an easy job, but someone's got to do it. Unfortunately for John, he did it a little too well and made the mistake of attributing all his good luck to his newly acquired beanie baby ostrich. He then made the mistake of slipping up and not taking his stuffed little buddy to the restroom with him for safeguarding. John returned to find his poor pal strung up from the light fixture. We are a ruthless, cutthroat family when it comes to cards. | |
 | I am happy to report that Stretch did not meet his maker that day. He was removed and resuscitated in the nick of time and did not suffer any lasting effects from his cruel torment. He was, however, forced to listen to my Aunt Donna's bad ostrich jokes. Lab results are still pending as to the long term effects of those. |
